RCT 3 demo questions

I got the demo working on my PC, and it is painfuly slow, but I have a few questions:

1. It says you can change from the 3d view to the clasic view, how do you do this?

2. What happens when the time limit is up, can you still play the demo?

3. If my PC can just barely run the demo, will it be able to run the full game smoothly?

Thats it, i find the path are easy to place, but the land tool is quite difficult.

Anyone seen the new look of the main website, it is way cool, riding a coaster, plus they got some new screens. *** Edited 10/6/2004 11:45:07 AM UTC by Live the thrill***

What are your computer specs?

Thanks,

Well... the answer to #2 is that after the time is up, it just kicks you out back to the title screen & you can play again for 45 more minuets.
There are cracks out there to stop your system clock, which gives you unlimited time.

3) If your PC BARELY runs the demo... obviously, the full game is going to make the game chug along on your system because there will be more peeps, more rides, objects, scenery... etc. Each of those use polygons which is processed by your video card & processor, and therefore will slow it down more & more. It's especially noticable if your PC is chugging as is.

I think it's time you upgraded if you really want to experience RCT3 for it's full potential... otherwise, you're going to have to run it at minimum specs, which isn't terrible... but not that great either.

As for #1, Im not sure how... probably in the options on a keyboard command.

my laptop specs are (the one that doesnt run the demo)

Your computer is fine and meets all requirements. There has to be something else. To find out your graphics card, right click on your desktop and go to properties, setting, advanced, adpater. It will say it across the top. Your system is fine and should run no problem. Do you have a lot of other programs running in the backround. How many icons you get in your system tray?

Thanks,

Your laptop's RADEON IGP 345M is the problem. My HP has the same chip and it boggles my mind that HP will stack a laptop and put that little piece of crap in it. Anything beyond typical desktop apps and it chokes. There's nothing you can do about it.

Yep, thats the one Jeff, cant I buy a new graphics card, I got the money, I want the game to run on extreme graphics, without slogging or slowing down.

You're stuck with what you have in a laptop. Aside from memory (which won't help you here), there isn't much you can do to upgrade a laptop.

I found this card:

GeForce 4 ti4200 128mb AGP

http://www.e-aquila.com/products/details.asp?SKU=101231

Someone said this will run it smoothly even at high graphics, will I be able to run it on my laptop?

Only if you could find some way to add an AGP slot to your laptop... ;)

THat video card is for desktop PCs. Again, you cannot upgrade the video cards in laptops.

That sucks, thanks for heads up, my PC is just to slow, I guess i will have to wait for RCT 3 for a long time :-(
No, there's no way to plug that graphics card into the laptop.

Hey,

Just a quick thought. If you are possibly wanting to buy a new home desktop computer, look no further than http://www.pricewatch.com. I see that you can buy full systems for under $200.

In addition to that, I have a cheap-o SiS Xabre 200 video card and an AMD XP2500 processor. 512 MB system RAM and it functions just perfect on my machine. I'm even using dual-monitors :) However, of course the game will not run on both monitors; only runs on one.

But, yeah, I'm anxious to know how you can revert the game back to 2-d as well because all the controls about moving to different views is a bit cumbersome and gets annoying after a while.

Look in the settings to set it to isometric mode. It's not "2D," it just fixes the camera on the angle that the old games used to simulate 3D.

wow, what an interesting tip, I was afraid to play with that view, I didn't exactly want to mess up the game without my comp locking up! :)
For one thing, you have WAY too much stuff running on both of your comps. They say you have 256 MB of RAM, and yet one has ~40 meg available and one has ~12. You need to kill somethings running in the background(AIM, realplayer, spyware, etc.)
