Hey, I currently have RCT-LL running on a Cyrix "P-II clone" (stinking piece of crap). I was thinking about getting a new comp, but dont want to spend a lot of money as I will basically only use it for games (I have a work computer for work). Bottom line is this, will RCT2 work with the Intel "Celeron" chiped computers? I'm pretty much illiterate when it comes to that stuff so I dont really know what's the difference between the Celeron series and the Pentuim series past version deux. Any help is appreciated! :)

Cyrix? Do you have running water and flush toilets yet? Yeesh.
Of course it will work on a Celery. Remember, a Celery is to a Pentium what Wendy's chili is to Wendy's burgers--leftovers from the busted-up original product.
In computers from oh, let's just say 1999 and up :P most of the transistor count of a CPU isn't processor but on-chip cache. So a lot of your 'bad' chips are chips with a perfectly good processor but insufficient good cache to sell as a Pentium. Intel disables half the cache (and half the set-associative properties by doing so) and voila--a Celeron.

It's called I was in college (1998) needed a comp for my apartment (since I moved out the dorms) and only had $400 to spend (left over scholarship money). It has run "well-enough" for these last four years with everything I've thrown at it (Mircosoft office, Mathematica, some engineering related software, Starcraft, etc.) so I think I got my money's worth. But, I know it's time to move on.
Didnt know about the Celeron/Pentium relationship though. Dankeschon!

For the money, why not just get an AMD processor? They cost the same as a Celeron but run a lot faster.
Of course, I REALLY don't know what I am talking about. I read it somewhere.

Please God, help me to spell words correctly, so that I don't get insulted by people who are perfect and wiser than myself. Amen
I have no problems with RCT2 on my laptop which only has a Celeron 650. Every now and then it will get a little jumpy if the scenario gets really big, but for the most part it runs fine. Actually the Celeron runs any of the Microsoft Office programs (except Frontpage) better than my P4 1.6 ghz. Glad I spent the money for that one!
