RCCA news

I was thinking about CCI's Cheetah when I rode it yesterday as well as GCI's upcoming Thunderhead and was struck by the thought that RCCA hasn't done much lately. Son of Beast is the latest I remember and before that what??? So the burning question is, is RCCA still operational and is anyone purchasing a coaster from them anytime soon now that CCI is defunct?

GCI and The Gravity Group are also operating. RCCA was never exactly been a big player during the building boom.

RCCA also did Magnus Colossus at Terra Mitica the same year they did Son of Beast and Wild Wild West at Warner Bros. Movie World Spain in 2002. They have the same number of currently operating wooden coasters built as GCI (counting Gwazi and Lightning Racer as "one" for this item) if that says anything.

Yes that does say something, as I'm sure RCCA is probably at least a little older than GCI, which proves Jeff's point about them not being a large player in the boom.
Uh huh, keep playing. I'm sure CCI wasn't a large player since they're probably older than both.

Roar, Roar, Lightning Racer, Hershey Wildcat, Gwazi, Ozark Wildcat... that's six, plus Thunderhead makes seven. I'm not sure if I'd give RCCA total credit for SOB, because there were several other companies involved (including their own in-house peeps).

Let me rephrase... RCCA didn't do anything in the building boom to get excited about. ;)

Word, you've got it right! :)

-Danny, who *knows* SOB-loving is a personal issue

Meanwhile, GCI has done quite a bit to get excited about...:)

....and yes, Danny, loving SoB could mean you have *issues*....

I did apply in a contest a long time ago, some coaster RCCA was working on in S. America a long time ago......and here it IS: http://www.rcdb.com/installationdetail1150.htm

Anyhow, what's anyone's experiences on their coasters OTHER than Sonny....maybe Sonny was "the weak link" in their arsenal?

Don't forget to mention the retracking GCI did to a few coasters in the off season when they didn't build a coasters. Arkansas Twister, the structure for Big Bad John, and another one up in New England I'm forgetting at the moment.

Despite of its name, RCCA builds most of their rides NOT in America. They have this collaboration with Intamin on their conventional woodies.
Wild Wild West in Germany and Spain, Magnus Colossos (Spain), Aska, White Cyclone (Japan), Montezum (Brazil)are all RCCA/Intamin rides (as often Intamin takes full credit for most of these rides)
