Ravine Flyer 2 construction

Watching the news this morning (local WICU-12 NBC out of Erie), and a spot came on about how crews have been going full-bore at the park to get it ready for opening day, along with showing clips of many people cleaning and reparing different items around the park.

What caught my ear was this, the station said, and I quote, "Paul Nelson also said that construction is about to start on a new roller coaster. The Ravine Flyer 2. A long awaited coaster by many."

To the last of my knowledge, the Candelas had 30 days to appeal the 3/21 ruling by Judge DiSantis giving Waldameer variance for the coaster, obviously, the 30 days slipped by with no appeal. This is definately great news for Waldameer, and Erie.

Time will only let us know who is the masterminds behind this project (as far as my I last knew, Gravity Group was the lead company).

When I was there last year, Frome the Ferris Wheel I could get a good vantage of the layour of where they coaster was going to run. It's gonna be cool, Expecially crossing the street. :)

Chuck, who wonders if they have more in court cost than the coaster itself?

About court cost, at least Waldameer can make it back. Candela's don't have a new product that will draw people in to reclaim the money lost (except that maybe more people might stay there to go to Waldameer).

Camdela's a idiot. That coaster can only help his buisness.

Chuck, who has camped at both HW and next to Martins Fantasy Island and found the coaster to be hardly noticable when running in the campground.

BTW, I went there for the coaster, Not the campground :)

Thats pretty sweet if they started construction. I will be in Erie this weekend, maybe I will take a drive by to see if anything is visible along the ravine.

Well, I think I will take a ride down there today to see if anything is happening with the site. 30 minute drive for a 2 minute look, good thing gas is cheap. ;)

Nothing noticeable going on, doesnt mean there isnt something actually going on though. On another note the park was actually open this weekend, we were long gone by opening time however.

It was nice to go in the park and look around for a little bit. This is the weekend to get down there... NO LINES for anything and $11.50 Ride-a-Rama bands for this weekend only.

Took a look around and nothing noticable towards Ravine Flyer, but good to see the park has made some improvements over this past winter. One of the bigger, noticable improvements has been a brand new gift shop (not yet open) located infront of Spider / Wipeout.

The park, which usually isn't open yet, obviously is behind in some parts. A couple of the kiddy rides are missing their tent-like coverings, and the Tilt-a-Whirl is still in it's winter mood, missing everything so far.

Just a quick update. :).

Update: Coaster to open in May of 2007, according to Paul Nelson.

Subject to change, but who knows.
