Rare Cedar Point Thing ...

ophthodoc, open up a history book and come back when you can tell me who Montezooma was.

Montezuma was the ruler of Mexico "back in the day" so-to-speak and something happened involving the tampering of the water there and it went wrong, causing the people of Mexico to go sick and get diarrhea if they drank it.

Knott's parodied it by replacing the "U" with ZOOM as in coaster zooming. Thus MonteZOOMas Revenge. The ride's color and theme was also linked the other term of Montezuma which means diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting, which the ride was seen to do back in the 70's.

Kraxel holy cow, as a history major for 3 years I have to point you in the right direction.

Nobody tampered with any water. The Spanish conquered the Aztec people, Montezuma was he "King" of the Aztec's. During the 20th century when Europeans (or Americans) began vacationing in Mexico they would often times get a bout of a stomach bug. They called it Monezuma's Revenge and the name stuck and spread.

All I need is 4.5 million bucks and a half a mile long sliver of land and maybe someone could build me my very own Shivering Timbers. ;)

Ha ha! Haven't you ever heard diarrhea called "Montezuma's Revenge" before? And another thing, kid, don't ever tell me to open up a book. You must think everyone is as naive as you apparently are.

I'll get to work right away on my Montezooma (oops, dumb me, Montezuma) research paper.

.....signing off chuckling at the world......
