Random off season trivia

Name a B&M coaster that has inversions whose first inversion is not a loop AND whose last is not a corkscrew.

I believe there are 9.

No cheating and using RCDB.

And for super extra credit, name one that begins with a regular ol' vertical loop but does not end with a corkscrew. I believe there's only one.

I can get 8 of 'em off quite easily:

1. Sheikra (one inversion, so by default the first and last inversion is the Immelman).

2. Griffon (first and last are Immelmans).

3. Dive Coaster (Chimelong Paradise) - see #1.

4. Superman Ultimate Flight, SFGAm. (First: Pretzel Loop; last: zero-g)

5. Superman Ultimate Flight, SFOG (see #4)

6. Crystal Wings (Happy Valley) (clone of SUF, see #4)

7. Tatsu (first: flat spin; last: zero-g)

8. Air (first: half in-line; last: full in-line)

EDIT: Extra credit is the same "evil" one matt is thinking of. Now if I could only get that 9th one.....

Start's with a D and is not in the US, right? Don't want to spoil it in case others want to guess after they read this.

Yep. That's the one I was thinking of.

#3 is Vertical Coaster, but sure. As for the 9th, Moosh, you just can't count.

^Dæmonen.

After the D thing, you kind of did spoil it. There are so many D coasters.

LOL Andy - and I've actually ridden that 9th one at SFGAdv! Guess I miscounted my clones :)

So Andy - I can think of at least two B&M coasters that have two corkscrews (err, flat spins) that are separated by at least one inversion. Can you name them?

Hmm. Hydra is one...

Nemesis, I think is the other.

Apparently Hulk is a third. (Had to RCDB for that one). *** Edited 2/1/2008 12:46:19 AM UTC by ApolloAndy***

As far as I know there are 2 B&M's that have MORE loops than corkscrews. Can you name them?

Those are the ones I came up with. I was trying to throw ya off with the "at least two" part ;)

Montu is one.

Ah - just thought of the other. Should have been faster on that considering the similar inversion setup. *** Edited 2/1/2008 1:43:48 AM UTC by matt.***

I can think of 3 - Montu, Pyrennes, and Kraken

ApolloAndy's avatar
Hmm..Somehow I missed Montu and Kraken. There's another I think, though some might consider it a trick answer.

^Trick answer, eh? Mantis?
matt.'s avatar
I thought of Pyrenees but for some reason thought there was a second corkscrew thrown in there.
ApolloAndy's avatar
Nope. It's actual regular vertical loops.

For anyone who still cares, the answer was Led Zep.

D'oh!...forgot about that one. How is that a trick answer?

^Because no one here has ridden it yet? Just a guess...
