Rampage;First SBNO CCI?

Will Rampage at Visionland become the first standing but not operating CCI coaster?

I can fix anything.....where is the duct tape?

Well if they don't find a buyer for the park they can always auction off Rampage,I'd sure be happy if SFA bought the coaster because we could sure use another woodie up here.Whatever happens though I'm sure they will try not to let a good woodie go to waste.
It's such a shame too, it's such a great looking coaster! I have only ridden 2 CCI's and I am just dying to ride another!

Milwaukee Wisconsin, we bring you beer, brats and cheese. But don't be fooled, "Milwaukee truly is a special secret getaway that I will be sure to tell my friends about!" Erin Brockevich, not to mention that we are an hour from SFGAm........

It would be a real shame, Ron, but I imagine someone will buy up the coaster if all else fails. I haven't ridden it, but I hear it was a real winner.

That's it, first the Lincoln Park Comet, then the Flyer Comet, and now Ramage!!! What is going on here? Pretty soon the Mega Zeph will be on that ist if things don't change.

First the Lincoln Park Comet, then the Thunder Eagle, then the Flyer comet, and now we can add Rampage to the list of great woodies that will be SBNO for 2002. What is with the world?

~Ball of Confusion, that's what the world is today so step on~

Geeez, this sucks. SNBO is almost as bad as being torn down. Just stting there, teasing us. It's not fair dangit!

Ready to spring into a new coaster season! :)

Plus, when a ride goes SBNO, you get kinda concerned about how much the maintenance will decrease for the ride, since it's not running or being used for guests.
Why would such a young, pretty wooden coaster like Rampage be put in SBNO status anyway??
The city is trying to cut (or did cut) part of Visionland's funding and the park is struggling as it is. The park likely won't be opening this season.

I havent been to visionland so forgive me if I'm wrong but isn't rampage built to the landscape? if so would it be hard to relocate if sold

JOHN

It is sort of built to fit the land, but not much, It is on a hill, so all they'd have to do ifthey moved it is either modify the supports a little, or just move some dirt. But Rampage is a great rollercoaster, and I sincerly hope that it doesn't move to far away from Birmingham, because it sure is a fabulous ride. The General Public around here doesn't know what they've got. People talk about how slow and dumb the ride is, and say that it will close because it is rotting. What a load of hooey. I don't have the energy to set them all right.

Anyway, couldn't CCI just buy the ride back, and sell it to another customer?

Don't worry. Visionland is a good park. It will find a buyer soon.
Just looked at an article about Vision Land kinked from another thread, and they said Rampage MAY open this year. They are still getting their plans in order.

What about the teens that ride it everyday after school?

It was truely a unique vision that created the state's largest amusement facility. The 35-acre park was planned, financed, and built as a joint venture of the eleven municipalities that surrounded Birmingham. The $65 million atracttion opened in May 1998. Four themed areas including the Steel Waters Waterpark, contained more than 25 rides, including Rampage, the tallest, fastest, and longest roller coaster the state had ever seen, and the Sky Wheel, a 106 foot tall Ferris Wheel that provided a great panoramic view of the park.

The Main Street entrance area was built to resemble a small Alabama town and includes everything from an old theater facade to a 1950s-era high, which contains the park's 10,000-square-foot arcade. This area of the park was in planning to recieve a wild mouse called Street Mouse in the future.

Marvel City is a great area for famiy rides including Marvel Mania, a kiddie roller coaster; Crank Cars; Fender Bender, a beautifuly restored bumper car ride; Around the World, which was a hot air ballon-shaped ferris wheel. Celebration City contained many classic games and thrill rides like Hurricane Rapids, a custom built river rapid; Cahaba Falls, one of my favorite log flumes; The Voyager; and Tidal Wave, a giant wave swinger as its centerpiece.

More than 5,000 trees, 28,000 shrubs, and 7,000 flowering plants were added tp the park prior to its opening. The landscaping is immature now, but as it grows, this park planned to make Visionland the "greenest" park in the country. Sadly, the many beautiful gardens may never blossom and Rampage may never rage again.-Visionland 1998-2002

Remember, the Lincoln Park Comet may be finding it's new home in Wisconsin.

It was supposed to start construction this summer, but it wont be ready for this season due to lack of support, returning of parts(many pieces of the Lincoln Park Comet have been stolen by teenagers including the last 2 cars of a train), and slow funding. They have money to get started, but the also need oral support and some funding from enthusiast. The park manger said that they haven't recieved a dime from us yet. If we won't to save a classic woodie then we're gonna' have to showsome support. He also said that he's rethinking the plans because he doesn't think that maby people really care about restorations. Also, take this in for thought, the alternative is a Vekoma Boomerang or a family coaster. Wouldn't you rather see a classic twister in the park or a boom'a'bang?

Sure, they have purchased the coaster, which was the easy part because the owner was practically begging for someone to take it of their hands. Little-A-Merrika still has to take it down, buy many missing parts, restore the braces and ledgers, and refurbish the trains. Not to mention actually relocating manys tons of wood over 900 miles across the US. After all that, you have yet to actually construct it.

That's very true. I live about 15 minutes from the park and love the ride(hence my name). Whenever someone why I like the ride they are like "that's the most boring ride in the park" which nearly makes me blow up.
