Raging Wolf Bobs

i was there today...track still missing and no one working on it. didnt see anything else.
I just wish they would change the name to Raging Wolf and drop the "Bobs". Other than the basic footprint RWB has little in common with Riverview's Bobs.

As someone who has ridden both, RWB is a plodding, shuffling mess of a coaster. IMO, it is even worse with the Gertlauer trains and no amount of retracking will ever make it more than just an OK coaster. Riverview's Bobs was a masterpiece of airtime, laterals, headchoppers and speed. It featured single bench articulating cars like GCI's Millenium Flyers. Along with the Aeroplane, the Bobs is a coaster I would most like to see properly recreated.

Mike, you are probably in the rare minority of people who have ridden both coaster. Your average park guest would have no idea what the "inspiration" of the ride was.

Last ride I had was in....2001 or 2002. Can't remember exactly, but I actually liked a lot of things about the ride. I liked the sections within the ride's structure, and if I recall, there were a few snappy left to right, right to left transitions at the bottoms of a couple of the drops.

We should all look forward to a coaster like this getting so much attention. Who doesn't love a coaster that may not be the best out there, but is at least just *fun.*

My opinion is do like some many other parks in the past (Kennywood, Crystal Beach) and tear it down, and build a new ride with the parts. My suggestion would be a copy of the Crytstal Beach Cyclone (which later became the Crystal Beach Comet). :)

In 2002, it was unbearable to ride in the back on the ride. Think I about cracked my back in about 3 different places.

Last year, much better. The second half of the ride, which got retracked, was smooth as a B&M coaster. And in my opinion, I think the ride even picked up some speed and had was wicked lateral gs on the next to last turn. Even with Villain's old G-Train on it, it was much better than last year.

Now, what would of been interesting, is if they would of just put the g-trains on the ride and put of the retracking till the following year. Or, done the retracking and left the old PTC trains on. Either way, it's a much better ride than it was a few years ago.

I rode Herc last August. A bad day on RWB is better than a good day on Herc.

I dunno... I think the majority of Summers coasters are better off being rebuilt with just the lift hill and brake run/station area intact- that way, a new wood coaster experience could be created for a lot less money using the only "good" parts of Summers' work.
I rode that coaster, which is one of my favorites, last summer, and before that, recently in 2001. I felt like a stuntman on the first drop, but the second half of the ride was unbelievable. They did a great job, and the new trains were an improvement.

Honestly, there are only a HANDFUL of people who rode both, and everyone else lies when they say they visited Riverview. Sorry, that is a fact. 99.99% percent of EVERYONE who went to Riverview are unaware that in 1988, the Bobs was rebuilt in Aurora.

If Geauga Lake was looking for marketing dollars on that ride, they could have easily rebuilt a long lost Summit Beach coaster, or something from Idora. Then, people still would make the drive to have a happy memory.

Agent Johnson:
The Bobs was NOT rebuilt at Geauga Lake. A coaster "loosely based" on it was.

Do you honestly think that Riverview's Bobs look like RWB?

Of course, you are entitled to like RWB, but believe me it is not the Riverview Bobs rebuilt.

Funtime's Bobs WAS built in Aurora. Your Bobs is landfill in Western Indiana. If it means that much, then maybe you should gamble a little more in Joliette, win, and build a new one.
What year did Riverview close for good?

DITTO, i agree completly! :)

XFlight, 1967 was Riverview's final year.

Weight lost to ride more coasters......90lbs
Does anyone know if RWB is open yet? Ever since quitting my job at CP I haven't been able to go for free so I just haven't gone.

I wonder if the ride will even open before the end of the season?

Raging Wolf Bobs is OPEN. Still running a single Gerstlauer train. A couple of tiny little sections of the first half of the ride have been worked on, but it still shakes like a Chaos until it gets to the part that Six Flags rebuilt.

So it's basically no better of a ride than it was last season? I think it would have been a more wise decision by Six Flags to retrack the FIRST half of the ride before the slower part? Maybe that's just their company for ya though.

I enjoyed the ride very much! Worlds better than in 2002!
I agree with Jes. I think the ride is running great this year. If they can get the rest of the first half re-tracked for next season, I think RWB may be th ebest woodie in the park. The laterals in the second half are pretty intense.
