Raging Wolf Bobs construction work being done

Gee, Dave, you wouldn't just put the Gerstl-ouch-ers on and call it done? ;)

I agree that the track is the problem here. Get it back in gauge and that should help immeasurably, and for Pete's sake, how about oiling the track! That alone makes a world of difference.

...wondering aloud if RollerCoasterGod has been to that little slice of Heaven called Screechin' Eagle....THAT has the best drops of any woodie in OH for my money...(yet to get a couple, though...Stricker's Grove, Wyandot). The depressing thing was trying to figure out which coasters I had missed, and looking at the LONG list of OH defunct wooden coasters....:(

It's been years since I rode RWB...8 to be exact. In 1994, I enjoyed RWB a lot. In fact, rode it several times in a row. But then, I also enjoyed Mean Streak back then too. If RWB has aged as poorly as MS, then I understand the need for an overhaul. Glad we put off our SFWoA trip until next season.

I love riding RWB! Perhaps the 61 times that I rode it in one day goes to show for that but I do agree that it needs some reprofiling. I see people getting off of it all the time crying and holding body parts...shoulders, elbows, etc.

-----------------
What would we all do if roller coasters became non-existent???

I rode RWB last year at SFWOA and this woodie is the worst next to the Predator @ SFDL.

These two woodies have to be the worst wooden coasters in the six flags chain.

Dinn must've forgotten that wooden coasters age because RWB,PREDATOR,MEAN STREAK aged soooo bad.

But the interesting thing is that they were great coasters when they first debuted.

I guess you can call them "one season wonders".

Hyper Rails The best thing since white bread!

Count me as another RWBs lover! It may "throw" you around and "bounce" you around but that to me is what makes it a great ride! I dont know anything about the engineering and personally I dont care about the engineering because to me it is still my 2nd favorite wooden roller coaster (right behind The Beast).

I love Wolf Bobs. It's location by the lake makes for good urban legends (you know, the third train that flew off the track on the second turn? The skeletons are still latched into their seats on the bottom of Geauga Lake). I remember seeing some kid in front of me scared to death to ride. His brother coaxed him on (kid was ready to cry he was so scared). Throughout the ride I saw his head bash around and slam into everything it could. After we stopped, I saw him laughing and preparing for another ride.

I don't really want to analize the ride, study track gauge, or beech about how the track is compared to the original Bobs. I just want to ride.

Now here's the real question about Raging Wolf Bobs:

What happened to Bob, the Raging Wolf, who used to sit on top of that rock out in front of the coaster? Are they gonna bring him back??

--Dave Althoff, Jr.

It really does make me wonder where he went. He was pretty cool and what made them take him away is beyond me. When did they take him out by the way? Was it last year or the year before?

For anyone to say that the RWB were ever fast is someone with a problem remembering the past accurately. While it is clear that the ride has become DREADFULLY slow in the most recent years, the ride was never speedly to begin with. There is seriously nothing going on with this ride. No speed, no lats, no air (except for the rear on two hills). More forces are excerted by the shuttling train.
I rode RWB countless times during the first few years and even operated it for part of a summer. It did have some speed and the "hunting" was not nearly as severe as it is today. The coaster was ignored by Funtime and Premier for too long. It is about time it gets some needed work.
So, it's truly down for the rest of the season then? :( I wanted a ride. I just don't get up to Ohio every weekend from SC.

Getting a B&M will always beat out having to take a BM.

As to Where "Bob the Wolf" went:

Back in 2000 when the park switched to Six Flags Ohio, they had a few days where School Kids got in half off. During one of these days not sure of the exact day (this is also during the time Villain suffered MASSIVE graffiti. A group of 4 Cleveland school teens (ages 12-16) got up and litterally tore the wolf off and where dragging around. The kids DID get caught and charged with something (not sure, but have the paper some where). SFWoA does still have the wolf though I have heard it's in VERY bad shape.

During these next few weekends you can see the new "BOB" in front of RWB sign though ;)

Oh, and yes Screechn' Eagle has AWESOME drops all throughout the ride :) Much like RWB first 2 drops in the back seat.

Maybe they should keep the new "bob" there in front of the sign on his comfy couch all bloody. :)

And yes, the ride is closed for the rest of the season, there is a sign saying this at the entrance of the ride. :(

I've never been happier to see a ride close.

I really liked it the first few years I rode it, but now it's just a big old pile of poo. What bothers me the most about this ride is that every year I go back expecting it to be okay, and end up with a boring ride and headache.

I don't believe that the WoA carpenters have any idea of the theory of track gauge, and it's really sad since it was once a great coaster. Honestly, if the Kennywood carpenters let Thunderbolt open and the train was shifting like that, they'd be fired. On the spot. There really is no excuse for a ride being taken care of like that. It runs like it's been sbno for 6 years.

Whew... sorry... sore subject.

Anywho, I really hope that the ride is retracked/rebuilt to the proper specifications. I'd love to have some more fun rides on it. I may be one of the biggest critics of this ride now, but it's only because I was once one of its biggest fans.

I hope that they tear this thing down because when I rode in 2001 and this year it was rough and terrible just likle Big Dipper and Villian.
"TAER it down!" Jeez MedusaFanatic is that all you can think of doing to rides? Try and be a little more positive. I will admit RWB is not up to par at all, but it should definetly not be torn down. Even more so I must say you'd have to be crazy if you think Big Dipper and Villain are on the same level as Raging Wolf Bobs. Villain and Big Dipper are world class no doubt about it; I have no clue what your talking about....
