Quiet at Cedar Point?

Is it just me or is it that like nobody is at CP today (The last operating day)

It might just be me, but if only I could zap myself there, or somthing...

Looks like a whole mess of people to me. The park closes at 8, and the weather pretty much sucks ass (as it did all weekend). I was shocked that it was relatively crowded Saturday, despite the weather.

What time does the water show start?

If you look at the left the line going into the sation for TTD, it looks empty. BTW I saw a train launching, it's weird on cam...
I was there earlier today and there were plenty of people there, but not packed...cars went to 28 in the lot. Dragster was down for a bit hence the appearance of the empty line but the train going over.

Short lines for everything but Dragster, MF was 20 mins tops late in the afternoon, most everything else was a walk-on including Maggie, Raptor, WT etc. Dragster's wait was 1-1.5 hours most of the day and they weren't loading the last 2 rows to "help it over the top" ;)

TTD Launches '03: 7

It was a pretty good day to end the season. TTD was the only long line, hovering around 1-1.5 hours and the weather wasn't really bad at all. It didn't rain at all and it wasn't very cold, only dropping into the forties once it got dark.

Figured I would ask this question here instead of starting a new one.\

Why didn't CP decide to be open next weekend since Halloween falls on next Friday? SF and Paramount are continueing operation into the first weekend of November. You would think CP would take advantage of this as well.

I too was suprised how busy it was yesterday. Not terribly crowded, but considering the rain and cold, a lot of people were there. I waited quite a while to get my first ride on Dragster (got front of the line passes for my trouble, despite it being a weather problem, AND a front seat rollback! score!). But I was dissapointed that the weather (especially later at night) forced them to close Werewolf canyon and Fright Zone. Gemeni and Mean Streak also closed, but the lines for stuff like Raptor and Wicked Twister were between 20-30 minutes. Ended my season with a 12:30 front seat ride on MF with pouring rain (which was about a 20 minute wait with my pass)

"Is this a rollercoaster?"
CP's off-season is already too short for the needed work to be done. Take a look at how (un)ready for this season they were with their extended season last year and early opening this year. Making the season even longer and making the off-season even shorter would probably lead to quite the rush.

6 months is to short for needed work to be done?

I don't buy that.

Didn't rain at all? Which Cedar Point were you at?

I'm not surprised that they didn't stay open an extra weekend. First off, the difference in weather between Sandusky and Cinci is significantly different these couple of weeks. It's not unheard of to get snow, but unlikely in Cinci. I think the bit about needing the time to rehab the rides is certainly a valid concern as well. I didn't see anything missing trains except for Gemini. God knows MF and WT are in dire need of new springs on the wheels.

As for SFWoA... who knows what they're thinking out there. As best I can tell they've had mediocre crowds at best. You know, they came up in conversation this weekend. We were wondering why the hell they wouldn't build a clone of Superman (SFNE) out there, maybe even tweak it further. Having a "#1" steel coaster there would certainly be a win for them since they won't be building anything 400-feet tall anytime soon.

Chitown, if you had any idea what the offseason routine entailed you might not be so quick think it is a long amount of time.

I have no doubt in my mind that it is more difficult and time consuming to close a park down and re-open it each year that it is to keep a park open year round.

I said I didn't buy it. I never said I know for a fact. Big difference.

Its only an extra week. Its not going to cripple the park to get off-season stuff done.

And don't tell me you CP regulars wouldnt want the park open this coming weekend. :)

Well it stoped raining at about 11:30, and the ground wqas dry by about 3ish, and the sun came out around 4, it was quita a beutiful last day. Bigger crowd then I expected but still only the ramp on Millenium is quite nice. Last ride was front row Dragster, not the normal blue streak because I parked at the Gemini gate. Mantis was great, (ie no trim) but the trim on Mean Streak wan on, for the first time I rode it this season.
Also there was a ride pride running the wave swinger, so I took advantage and did a 360 before take off, and had the best wave swinger ride ever, gotta love twisting back and forth and feeling like your legs are going to hit the control shed roof.

It WAS pretty dead at CP in the morning with the on and off sprinkles. But As Sharpel said, the rain all but stopped by 11 ish, and we even got some sunshine in the afternoon. The crowds picked up around 1 pm, but we pretty much had less than a 10 minute wait on everything except MF (15-20 minutes) and TTD.

The "it's only one more weekend" argument is what got them to today's season schedule. It used to be that the park was only open Memorial Day to Labor Day. Then they added early season, then Bonus Weekends, now Halloweekends.

The park can barely operate at that time of the year. People already complain about food stands being closed, less than full train operation, the weather, etc. Getting college kids to come back each weekend is demanding as it is.

Frankly, I would rather see a shorter season with the park operating as it should than a longer season with the park limping along.
