I'll make this one short (pun intended ;) )

Son of Beast - running the smoothest so far this year. I got two rides, once in the middle, another towards back, always in middle of any coach. There was some bouncing in the first helix when in back, but nothing out of the ordinary. Two train operation is a big help, plus with none of the queue switchbacks open, the line around 6pm was only 30 min (60 after stomach containment accident on platform)

Beast - Average ride made below average due to the fact I was stapled in the station. One click is comfy, two clicks is downright painful. You guess how many clicks I had. :) Only running two trains, probably due to mechanical reasons.

OL:FOF - Decent ride in back, but I had to work for it. Roller coaster riding shouldn't be work.

Racer (back), Vortex, Adventure Express - same old, same old

So now that Sonny is operating in a semi-proper fashion, what's your take on it overall?

I really like the ride. When it's in a good mood like this weekend, it's very smooth and quite fun. However, when it's in a bad mood, like earlier in the season, it's a very rough ride that is no fun at all. It's good points are the relentless speed in the first helix and of course the loop. The bad points all lie after the loop. It seems that the baseline for the second helix and cloverleaf turn are too high and all speed coming out of the loop is lost. That hill before the cloverleaf turn should have loads of airtime but it doesn't. Minor disclaimer: I've only ridden SOB in the middle seats of a coach and never over the wheels (except for a front seat ride).

Right now I would say that SOB is running at about 75%. There is still some work to be done to make it a top-ten ride. For starters, the third train has to be on. Second, there is still remnants of "The Jolt" on the second hill, but it's tolerable if you're prepared. Third, as mentioned above, the speed after the loop is way to slow for the course. If PKI would take care of these issues, Sonny will be right up there. But as I said, it's fun and fast.

Don't let this review sway your decision about Sonny. Go down there and ride it yourself.
