quick SFoG question for the locals

All you Atlanta area locals, perhaps you can answer a quick question for me. How come SFoG is closed for half the month of August? I was planning on going on a Thursday sometime in mid-August, but I discovered that they are closed for a good bit of the month. Does Georgia have a weird school schedule, or is it something else?

You win the Wally World prize package.

Georgia schools stop on Memorial Day (most high school graduations were last weekend) and start back up the 2nd week of August.

That's crazy. Wouldn't it be too hot to start school that early in August? Wonder why the crazy schedule...

It would be too hot here to start school in October.

Welcome back, red train, how was your ride?!
Another question...is Deja Vu still on site, or has it been removed from property?
It's gone from the park property and making way for Thomas Town.

If it is still on property? That is a good guess.

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

It started with getting Fall finals done before the Christmas break, gradually getting earlier to allow for a full week at Thanksgiving.

If it weren't for air conditioning this would never fly - and it's killing seasonal business and seasonal job opportunities.

(Deja'Vu was still in the boneyard at the end of March)

My kids used to love watching that show!!! It should be great for families. When is that slated to open?

Deja Vu was an awesome ride! I hate they couldn't get those bugs worked out, but I think the Thomas attraction will be cool for families. Any word on anything else new they adding?
I rode thomas last weekend felt like a giant in the little train car. Also used 4 different restrooms I guess since they drilled their own wells they are not going to put in the low/no flow urinals.it was memorial day weekend (sunday) the park did not get crowded until 4:00 pm or so.

Yes most of the schools here in the south have gone to what they call "year round schedule" short summer break 3 weeks off for christmas and 3 weeks off in spring. The first day back for my kids is aug 6 .
