Quick Knoebels Trip Tips

I'm going to Knoebels on July 5th (the day after tomorrow) and I have a few questions. Is there anything special that I should do at the park or in the area. I heard about there Kettle Corn. How do you think the crowds will be. Also where are the flyers located what do they look like and how do you snap them. Some pictures would be nice. I couldn't find anyone. Well I need the information byt tomorrow night so hurry and thanks.

I went to Knoebels a couple years ago on July 5th and it wasn't very crowded at all. The Flyers are located right next to the Whirlwind, but I never got a chance to ride them when I was there :(. Also, don't be shy to ride the Hi Speed Thrill Coaster. It might look like just a kiddie coaster, but the name certainly describes it well. And if you're lucky (which is most of the time), the operator will run it very fast and send you through many times. There's lots of great airtime on this little coaster. Have fun - they have great rides, great food, and a great atmosphere.

http://knoebels.com APC11 pretty much covered it....but no matter what we tell you, you can't really prepare for your Phlights on the Phoenix....Twister is amazing....

man, I wish I lived closer...:(

If you want I'll meet up with you at Knoebels (as long as I don't have work). I live about 20 minutes from the park. I'll give you the $0.10 tour and some quick pointers on the Flyers along with the money seats on the coasters. Drop me an email just click on my info for it or IM me. I love giving people the tour of my park.

I think you can snap the Flyers just by moving the rudder back and forth. I was flying as I normally would (i.e.- no snapping) and I ended up taking out part of a tree and at one point my tub stalled and as the cables caught up to me I was launched viciously into the air. It was rather scary as I had never done that before. I'm really surprised the park doesn't mind the ride going through all that stress.

And yes- Twister is AMAZING. I love Phoenix, don't get me wrong, but Twister is my #1 wood and overall coaster. I too wish I lived closer! :)

I agree that High Speed Thrill Coaster is NOT to be missed. Also, don't miss the Haunted House [newbies MUST sit on the left], the awesome Dodgems, the Whip, the flume, and the train ride. As lame as this might sound to some, take 30 minutes and a $10 bill and sit in the Fascination Parlor, relax and play. Trust me...its fun *and* addictive!

Wish I was going....

What is the rudder. I don't know what they look like or what the rudder is. Could someone explain.

The thing you steer with on the front of the tub you sit in. If you never rode Flying Scooters before snapping can scare the crap out of you especially the ones at Knoebels. :)

Well I will try it anyway. You just move it side to side to make the tub go up and snap the cord?

Sean - you'll need to ride a few times to find the "rhythm" needed to snap cables, and not all flyers are operated in a way that makes snapping possible. Knoebels certainly are, though.

Its tough to explain but ideally you're trying to make the tub swing out high then come in close to the center and "stall." Its that brief moment when your tub is not moving but the rest of the ride is that one of the cables becomes slack. The snapping occurs when the slack goes away.

It takes practice but once you discover the secret its easy! Let us know how you did ;-)

Best old time haunted house ride and best bumper cars in the country. Don't miss either.

Real made to order funnel cakes, and all of the food is good. Possibly the only amusement park that people go to just to eat.

Matthew what exactly makes the snapping noise and exactly is it with the slack thing?
