255 IS a huge number of people to have in line, but if you can keep the line moving it's a good way to reduce the crowds on the regular paths. A ride that can dispatch 3600 passengers an hour would have a wait of less than 5 minutes. As long as you amuse your peeps with scenery and an entertainer, they won't get too annoyed with the wait. But I wouldn't want make them wait longer than that unless the IA in RCT2 makes the peeps more patient.
Another way to reduce crowds is to build a somewhat long exit ramp. You can close it off with a one-way banner to prevent peeps from wandering up a dead-end. Branching the exit ramp into two reduces the number of peeps flooding onto the regular path at any one time. Benches on the exit ramp also help to control the flow of foot traffic.

I lost my hat on Poison Ivy. How pathetic.
Yea I had over 800 peeps in a que line on one of my RCT 2 parks. IN fact if RCT 1 sometimes allowed more than 255 peeps in a que line at once. I don't know why RCT 1 did that at time but at other time limited the lines to 255 peeps. I think if someone made a patch or trainer for RCT 1 that allowed it then you would see more than 255 peeps in a que line for RCT 1.
In RCT 2, I had a tera coaster and it was so popular I had a huge queline for it. It filled up and had over 800 peeps in it. It was quite interesting have more realisim in the game like that.
BTW the que line TV's rock in RCT 2 my peeps are way more patient in the ques.

Thank you! I've been thinking that myself!
"Hey, I'm getting in the line line, want to join me?"
Damn shame they call it that in the game as well. Now excuse me while I look up my PIN number...
