Questions About SFMM & KBF

Hey Folks,

I figure you guys would be able to answer all my questions reguarding an upcoming trip to SoCal this Feb.

1. I hear all the time that SFMM has major issues with rides and things like that. And i understand that theres no way until i actually go to the park to find out for sure whats open and whats closed, but what Does SFMM do ride refurbishments during the winter that would decrease the chances of rides like X, Scream etc being open?

2. Any reviews on the rides at the parks would be very very helpful.

3. This is a specific question about Xcelerator, what are the restraints on the ride? Im a bigger guy and i know there will be some difficulty getting on this ride. But i did ride MF and TTD this season.

I thank you in advance for anything you guys can give me.

Mike

I don't think you will have any problem on Xcelerator if you fit on MF and TTD. I remember looking at the slack in the belt and noticed more to it than TTD had.

I know how much you like Vu. If the line is long and not many of you going, they have a single rider line. When I went over Thanksgiving the line was over a hour and I got on in one cycle.

The Golden Rule - Try it once and if you don't like you don't have to go on again!

You should have no problem on Xcelerator. I barely fit on MF and TTD this year and had extra slack on Xcelerator later on in the year (and that was after gaining a couple pounds back).

Do a search on reviews of the two parks. There are plenty of threads on the merits and failures of these two parks, especially side by side analysis.

Certain victory.

SFMM: Most rides will be single train operation, so be prepared for that. Some weekends can be unusually busy depending on the weather, but that's the name of the game in the off season. As for actual closures, probably Superman and Ninja will be the most likely candidates for being closed. Depending on the day, others may be randomly shut down as well.

[sarcasim]Oh, be prepared to see an overflowing trash can or 2 as well, since I know that can RUIN some people's entire day.[/sarcasm]

Pass da' sizzrup, bro!

A word of caution regarding Knotts: typically Ghostrider will be down for bi-annual rehab in February. IIRC the coaster is closed during the last two weeks of the month, just after President's Day. In fact it usually reopens just before the park's Winter Solace coaster event in early March.

Monte and Xcelerator also have two maintenance sessions a year...not sure when those are scheduled.

As for SFMM, yes all their coasters go thru maintenance in the winter but only coaster that typically run one train [Deja Vu, for example] will be closed completely. The rest, unless they are undergoing some track repair/mods, will run with one train.

Not that this really matters, but im planning my trip over Superbowl Sunday will that have any impact on crowds?
Superbowl Sunday is always very light at the parks.
