question for rideman

Well we all know how rideman feels about the otsr,s. My question to rideman is this, now that they put the new restraints on fof, how do you like them?
What you may not be aware of is that the lap bars they came up with for Son of Beast are remarkably similar to something I described on rec.roller-coaster a Very Long Time Ago. Well, before Cedar Point put the tall lap bars on Snake River Falls anyway, 'cause after that happened I remember making exactly that comparison.

Would I want those restraints on, say, the beloved Magnum? Absolutely not. I don't like them THAT much. But as an alternative to shoulder bars on a multi-element looper such as Flight of Fear I think they work quite well. For the first time in a long time I can look at a coaster train and honestly believe that someone actually put some significant thought into how it should hold riders, rather than just doing something that seemed like a good idea at the time. I think it's a good design.

And another thing...the Flight of Fear retrofit job is a heck of a lot more comfortable than the retrofit they did on Son of Beast for this season.

This was my first time to pki in 3 years, so I dont know what the sob trains where like last year, but I will say that I had very little leg room. This made my knees bang into the handle bars.

Sorry if I missed something, but what changes did they do to the SOB trains this year? I don't remember reading anything about that.

the floormats are different and don`t offer you as much leg room this year!
What was it for? Did they retrofit the lap bars?
I have no idea what the purpose was, but they raised the floors in the Son of Beast cars by about 2". Very annoying 'cause there wasn't enough leg room in those cars to begin with.

My guess is that since Premier lowered the seats on FOF for the new restraints and since Sonny had the same restraints, maybe Premier decided to change the spec on how high off the floor the seats should be. However, PKI's fix for Sonnye doesn't quite work unless you raise the lapbars the same distance. Otherwise you trim 2" off the lap bar length and get reports of cramped riders.

I am so stupid, I thought you guys were talking to me for a sec, you see i use rideman at other coasters sites, i forgot Limwarrior was used here. Anyway I am happy for FOF look at my name LIMwarrior, but arrows just need those new (SLR) side locking restraints like on X *** This post was edited by Limwarrior on 4/10/2001. ***
I even crossed my legs, and it dident do any good. I think that the mine ride at cp has more leg room than sob.
