Question about X @ Sfmm

Rob- Its wierd, i love smooth coasters, am a huge B&M fan- and really dislike headbanging on some vekoma products. I love intensity though.

X- i just lapped it up. Everything i wanted, mean angry crazy ride. Perfect. Obviously not everyones cup of tea, and i am sorry that the 1 ride you had, did not impress you much. Maybe if you give it another go. Reading other peoples reports of it, appears that you can get some headbanging depeding on the seat you are in. You got unlucky.

Am so glad it got built and Six flags got it working. Bring on the next generation of 4d.

Craig: I agree- acoaster should not have to be ridden under ridiculous conditions in order to experience a good ride. If I have to ride in the 5th row on a cloudy day with my head pressed against the right side of the OTSR, I'd rather not bother.

gyjdnb: If you like your rides "mean, angry and crazy," that's fine. I wanted to like X- I really did- but the ride I got did not cast it in a positive light. I think that the concept of X is fantastic, and if properly executed, would make for one hell of a coaster. I'm a huge fan of B&M coasters, so let them give it a shot and see what they come up with!

Just a note: On arrow corkscrew vehicles look at the horse collars, on the inside you will notice grooves running down the foam. this was a modification to prevent peoples eardrums from being broken. due to the violent laterals.

I recall seeing that on B&M OTSR's as well.

Yep. SLC's have 'em too. It's nothing related to the smoothness of the ride.

Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

I thought it was just decorative?

Nope. The ridges allow air to escape when your ear hits the restraint, which prevent pressure from building on your eardrum which could lead to rupture.
