Question about Holiday World...

i am planning on Visiting Holiday World in July. I noticed on their website that one can get an $11.00 discount after 4:00 any day of the week. I wish to go on a Sunday when the Park is only open until 8:00. Since my travel plans prohibit me from getting to the park much earlier then this, I would like to take advantage of this discount if possible. (3 other parks and a week long music festival this Trip..)

Anyway, Is it possible to ride all of the coasters and perhaps a couple other attractions in 4 hours on a Sunday at Holiday World. (4pm - 8pm)

Thanks

yes! but the bad news is you'l be missing out on the best part of HW, riding the Raven and Legend in the DARK!

Hmmm talking about HW...

ZOOMbabwe goes vertical. Pics at HWs' official homesite. The slide looks large... i remember the pic with a person standing inside the pipe :) http://www.holidayworld.com/WaterPark/Z%20diary%202.html

Thanks, anything else I should know?

It's no problem to ride the coasters in a few hours, but the place and people are so nice, it's a shame to not squeeze in more time if you can. Remember if you are an ACE member it's half price.

Since you brought it up...you should be aware that when employees/locals mention "pop", noone's gonna hit you, they're really talking about SODA...
Admission to HW for a CoasterBuzz Club member is $14.95 and $4off for each of your guests.

I've traded in my 2000 Giovanola for a 2002 Arrow X4D :)
My other car is now an Arrow X4D!

I think you could get all the rides in they don't seem to have much but you might be pushing it there with 4 hours. You'll want to probably reride legend and raven and you might want to go to the water park. Also I might be goin to cornerstone festival also maybe Ill see you there

If you are a card holding member of any Coaster Club or Park historical society you get half off admission every day at Holiday World.

Chuck, saying why would you arrive after 4? Holliday world is a place you don't want to leave :)

167 coasters and hopes to be over 200 by the end of 2002 :)

Don't pass up the log flume when you are there. It is rather unique in it's design and very nice.
I would say spend a whole day at Holiday World. Dont forget to experince Legend & Raven. Havent tried them at night yet. Also dont forget to ride the log flume. Join the coasterbuzz club you will get discount admission for $14.95 ;). The park is very clean and nice plus the employee's are very friendly and free parking ;).

How long are the Legend and Raven queues on mid-June Saturday? Which coaster usually commands the longer line at night?

And, if you had the option of spending the last four hours of a Friday there or the first four hours of a Sunday, what would you choose?

Other than SRM, I have only attended one saturday and that was probably the busiest saturday of the year on fourth of july weekend.

Keep in mind that Legend only had one train at the time but now has two.

Morning waits

Raven 45 minutes

Legend 1hr 15 minutes

Keep in mind that after everybody gets their morning ride the waterpark opens and much of the crowd heads there.

Afternoon waits

Raven 15-20 minutes

Legend 45 minutes

Evening Waits 8pm-10pm

Raven vitural walk on to 10 minutes

Legend bout 10-20 minutes

The park really starts to empty about 7pm as the waterpark is closed.

Also keep in mind that Legend is getting two trains because this park cares enough to make you visit more enjoyable and is spending the money to do so. So wait times for Legend should be almost half what they were.

Don't drink too much FREE soda and don't go broke on that FREE parking, Eat at the park (Very reasonable bout $5 a person per meal) and buy some souviniers! (Also very reasonable)

Two rides besides the coasters you don't want to miss is the Raft ride and the Log Flume, Both are unique and quite fun.

Chuck saying OPEN THE PARK! :)

Wow, thanks everyone for the information...
I am definately sold on the idea of going to HW now...

Here is my plan for this trip far (edited due to your suggestions). I moved some things around so more time could be spent at HW.

June 29 - Six Flags Great America,
June 30 - Indiana Beach,
July 1-6 Cornerstone music Festival (Bushnell, IL),
July 7 - Six Flags St. Louis
July 8 - Holiday World
July 9 - Six Fags Kentucky Kingdom.

If anyone has any more suggestions please let me know. Once again, thanks for all the info.

A suggestion I would make reguarding Holiday World to you, IF you get there at park opening, Do the park counter clockwise! I know it is almost irrisistable to pass on the coasters first thing but realize that that is what everyone else is doing too!

Go in the park and go straight! Put your anti Gravity suit on to resist that Halloween section and go to the fourt of july section and ride the Paul Revere's midnight ride, The bumper boats, the dodgem, The flyers, and the Round up and Tilt A Whirl, Take a stroll over to Holidogs fun town for a ride on the Howler Then go ride the coasters about noon. Take the afternoon and enjoy the waterpark (Ranked #3 in the world) and ride the raft ride and save the rest of the day for the two coasters that only get better and better the more the day wears on. I have to say that about 6pm when the sun starts to set that both coasters just start getting faster and faster!

Chuck, who sees legend taking a long time to wake up like it's sister up the hill now with PTC's.

Okay, another question for HW regulars, what's the can't miss food items at the park. I've been through the fries at Cedar. Done the perogies, tri-taters and clear birch beer at Knoebel's. Had the Green Eggs & Ham at IOA.

What are the signature tastes of Holiday World?

no fair mentioning birch beer. That is one thing I really DO miss about life "up there". But seriously, the BEST part about getting HW souvenirs is that people will ask you about them, and you can tell them all about your most excellent trip to HW! I remember the pizza at the park...oh, and the fudge...mmm. I remember hearing about a new candy product called Twirzle" (or something like that) from a friend on "another" site.

That mexican food stand has a great Taco Salad! The Pizza is good.

Okay (and this is almost sacrilege) but the pizza @ HW is actually quite enjoyable. Granted, not Chi-style, but there is actually enough bread on it to get full off a few slices, instead of needing to down the whole 'za and get constipated from all the cheese...

And they really need to box up that fudge and ship it around the world
