Quassy will double water park size for 2013 season

Quassy Amusement Park announced Thursday plans to double the size of its water park by next year, adding three new slides and an a children's splash pad area. The expansion of the water park, which opened in 2003, is part of the park's $5-million improvement plan, which began in 2010.

Yet another example of parks investing in water park improvements. Holiday World/Splashin' Safari, Alabama Adventure (now Splash Adventure) and Lake Winnepesaukah. Who did I leave out?

It's been years since I've been to a water park or to the wet side of an amusement park. But, obviously the parks have the numbers to show to justify these moves. Guess I'm just a coaster geek. That's why I'm not a member of SplashBuzz.

I'm lost on this conversation.

Responding to the article and OP's OP, I love me some waterpark fun. Took my nephew to his first waterpark at Kings Dominion this summer, sadly the tornado was not open, but otherwise we had a lot of fun.

Water park espansions are a lot less expensive, and have much greater ROI. IMO, waterslides can be just as fun and thrilling as coasters and flat rides.

Cliff's bought a brand-new waterplay structure to replace their (something) Monkeys, and sold their old one to Joyland Luboock - well, traded for the Anton shuttle.

Even if you don't enjoy waterparks, you should still be excited about them. They bring in revenues that can be used to build "dry" rides, and do so cheaply....freeing up money for future expansions. Plus, they make lines shorter for eveything else...

Any idea when Cliff's plans to rebuild said Anton?

I think they were hoping to build it running parallel to the Interstate (I-25). That might require a little bit of relocating a flat or two (maybe the drop tower?). Figuring on 2014 right now, I just don't think they've got enough time and resources to get it up in time for 2013 since there's not any room in the park to just drop it in anywhere.

Loved Albuquerque and Cliff's and the Sandia Mountains...just need to remember HOW hot the red chili was at Cecilia's Cafe! Wow... LOL!

Lake Compounce has been talking about their water park expansion for a while too. They just added new racer slides this year and i saw a lot of construction going on along side the lake so I'm assuming they are going to be adding onto the waterpark soon.
