Quassy - Wooden Warrior 6/17/22

I used to go to Quassy every year for IBM Family Day, so I uave super fond memories of the place, but haven’t been in 30 years. We spent 2 hours as we were passing through and it was a really nice park that reminds me a lot of Seabreeze in Rochester.

I’ll spare the sentimentality (there was a lot of me running around going, “Oh, I remember that!” and “This used to be X.”) The main things of note were the loading on Frantic was awful: it carries eight passengers per cycle and they were loading it individually (like moving a stepstool around so each guest could climb up into their seat. Also, individually assigning seats for balance.)

Also, Wooden Warrior is amazing. We rode it in front first and it was quite good and rode it back twice and the air was surprisingly strong. For such a short train and such a small footprint, it really packed a punch. Even with a single 12 passenger train, the line was never more than 2 or 3 cycles. It’s really a testament to what GG can do with Timberliners.

Overall, we had a great time at Quassy and I’m not sure we’ll be back, even after another 30 years, but for $21, it was a great way to spend a few hours.
