Psyclone and Flashback coming down at Six Flags Magic Mountain

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Psyclone and Flashback will be dismantled at Six Flags Magic Mountain. The park says they're looking for a more family-friendly image. Flashback may be rebuilt at some point elsewhere in the park, as it says the ride's noise interfered with lifeguards in the neighboring Hurricane Harbor.

I am really *quite* surprised to hear this from multiple sources I consider knowledgeable. Considering I don't know COASTERS other than from a rider's perspective, I'd have to defer to your opinion(s). When I first rode Psyclone, hmmmm, 1999-ish, I thought it could be fixed.....as the years went by, it seemed to only get worse, MUCH worse, structurally. The rocking and creaking last time I was there (Solace '06) had gotten to the point that I really WANTED it to be my last ride on the thing - I am kinda *compelled* to get at least one lap on any operating woodie, no matter how bad....

I guess my question is: Can we get a good GUESS at to how much it would have cost to really FIX the ride, Psyclone, in the condition its currently in? I can't imagine it costing any LESS than what CF is going thru with Sonny right now (4-5M-ish??)....and that, if my guess is close, is not TOO far off from the cost of a new woodie...

Flashback never rode it and don't care 2 hearing the horror stories! I rode the pile of wood when I was out there last year for the opening of tatsu.

GOT A MATCH!!

Over all I had a great exp. for a six flags park. The staff was a hell of alot better than my home park (SFNE)!! Scream ...loved it... hated were it was.Plant some grass!!
