Prosecutor says accident victim allegedly seen standing on Holiday World's Raven

Posted | Contributed by RideMan

In a media briefing presented Tuesday afternoon, independent ride safety consultant Tony Rossi explained his approach to investigating the coaster incident and indicated that engineers would be on-hand to conduct "test dummy" testing of the Raven on Friday. Will Koch announced that Indiana state ride safety inspectors have concluded their inspection of the Legend, which will re-open today.

The county prosecutor says witnesses saw someone matching the victim's description standing up while the ride was in progress.

Current details are available on the official Holiday World site.

Again I am impressed with the way that Holiday World is handling a very tragic and difficult story. While many companies will blatantly do everything they can to keep information close to the vest, Mr. Koch has done the complete opposite and it is coming off as a class act.

I absolutely agree. This makes me want to visit the park even more. I have never seen a park so upfront with such a horrible trajedy. Kudos to Holiday World!

It just goes to show that HW is about it's guest and not about the all mighty dollar. This will only make them look even better.
I seroiusly doubt someone dying at HW will make the park look better. They are doing a great job of handling it, though.

Also, don't be quick to take the word of a lawyer about people seeing this person stand up during the ride. Let's wait until the facts are in. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that this person was doing something less than safe causing this tragedy to happen.

Time will tell.

Thrill,

I could see your point if those comments were attributed to an attorney for the park. But those comments were made by the Spencer County Prosecutor's office...

Not only that, but that's about all we're going to get from eye witnesses. The only other thing we'll have to go on is the consultant's test results.

I was there that day and I rode the raven. I don't see anyway possible to fall out of the ride if you are completely buckled in and the lapbar is locked.*** This post was edited by marie 6/5/2003 6:12:41 PM ***
The consultant's report is done. The Raven reopens today (Saturday). Check holidayworld.com.

(Edit: Whoops, didn't see the other thread about this. I did try to look first. Sigh...)
