Proposed Omaha park to feature unique rides

The proposed amusement park in Council Bluffs will have one of the most unique roller coasters anywhere, a spokesman for the developers said Monday. It will be a combination of wood and steel, with the benefits of both types of construction, said Steve Minard, president of Metro Omaha Theme Park L.L.C., a subsidiary of Papa's Park of Iowa.

yea, corey, my point was the reason they said 4d was because in the bottom of the article. They werent associating it with the 10 wood/steel.
railshark, Coney Island Cyclone is ALL wood...no steel there buddy;) im suprised such a famous coaster could be mistaken like that....anyway, i have no idea what this park will build. it will sure be interesting to find out though, being that until now i believe all hybrid steel/wood mix coasters were CCI products, but i could be wrong....we shall see ;)

hey...thats my story..and im stickin by it!!! :)
PKD 2003...drop rides will never be the same...Intamin rocks!! :)

um vacoasterfreak, the coney island cyclone does too have steel supports. just to let you know
Inhouse coasters, CCIs, PTCs, Travers....many have built woodies with steel structure.
Imagine if they asked Intiman to make a woodie with steel supports patterned after the brutal Herry Traver woodies like the Revere Lightning or the Zip.

I have a feeling we will see another wood looper, just with more inversions. Keep in mind, SOB's loop is steel.

You'll see a GCI at this park... that's not a guess, that's the fact.

Its going to be a wooden coaster with steel supports, according to Custom Coasters website (on September 27, 2001) said that they had built 10 steel supported wooden coasters, and if i believe right, they are the only ones ever to use steel supports on a wooden coaster.

Custom Coasters Website (as of September 27)

California Screaming is entirely built out of steel. By the way, thanx to a patent by (who else) our beloved Werner Stengel, Intamin is able to make some new breed of woodies with laminated wooden track on steel girders. An example of this is Heide park's Colossus. SoB was built before Werner patented this technique, so that's maybe why it gives such a rough ride. Colossus on the other hand (almost just as tall) gives a buttersmooth ride, thanx to the steel. I think they're talking about such kind of coaster...

I'm proud of ALL my mayor malfunctions!

That coaster they are going to build there is going to suck. I hate coaster that have steel on wood.
