Proof of PKI's coaster intentions for 2003...

Don't know if this has been submitted yet, but check out this link...

Interesting...

!

That is for PKI's Math and Science Days... One of the M&S Day activities is a roller coaster design contest...

Interesting.

I looked at the official PKI site, and it appears that there is an annual contest in which area students submit coaster designs.

If this is real, it's a pretty interesting concept. Imagine being the kids whose design wins, and being able to say "I made that." Or at least "I influenced that."

So I'm guessing that since this is an offshoot of an existing contest, the park is using this as a way of "feeling out" what their audience would like to see in a thrill ride.

Anyone know any more? Any thoughts/insight Shaggy or Sean F?

All a kid would need to say is, "Contact B&M and they'll take it from there!" 1st place, baby!

Still hoping our concept for a "jumping coaster" based on MagLev technology comes to fruition someday....(OK, not likely as soon as '03, but someday....).....:)
Perhaps a bribe to a middle schooler would be in order....

He let the contents of the bottle do the thinking; can't shake the devil's hand and say you're only kidding.

Would be funny if students sent in designs of Drachen Fire. Or King Cobra, The Bat... :)

Hmmmm i think I might do this!

When does it hafta be done by?

I think that this might just be part of the math and science days. I do know that Nagel Middle School students (the site that the link goes to) were at the math and science day last week. Anderson High School`s AP Physics is going this week, but, unfortunatly the principal wouldn`t let Honors Physics students go. That is interesting, however, I`ve heard that Phantom Theater will be remodeled/renovated. Also, a Huss Giant Frisbee would go on KC`s old site with some new ater slides in Water Works, but with Paramount`s Kings Island, you never will know until its anounced, and then you might not know. BTW, I heard that they are supposed to anounce in late summer or early fall.

I`ve ridden Son of Beast 67 times!

I think they do this every year. I always see a few models of coasters in the front main building behind a door to the right. They are always very crazy and made out of things that you find layin around, all different types of things. I highly doubt they will use it for an up coming attraction or they will say we used the loop idea from your model to make the person happy. Maybe i'm wrong but that is my guess.

I am not certain, but I think this may be linked to the coaster contest they had last Friday. I have a strong hunch that PKI has already made the choice what will go on the site of King Cobra........then again, I may be wrong. =:^)

-Sean (and I am willing to be it won't be a 243-foot tall mouse coaster either)

i don't think that the park would have enough time to completely order a ride, get city approval, wait on a coaster company's waiting list (i believe cci's is like 2 years), build it, test it, and open it all within 12 months. almost all coasters take years and years to develop. take for example tower of terror at dca. it won't open until 2004 and it was announced last winter. it has probably been on the drawing board since dca opened, or earlier.

I'm praying for a B&M invert. Oh, man would I love to have a *decent* invert within 150 miles of my home. mmmmmmm..... B&M invert.....*drooling*

So many coasters, so little vacation time....

Awwww....there you go, taking the fun out of it for everyone. It was supposed to be a surprise, remember?

Chris 'I can't believe they're going to gut 7th Portal/Meteor Attack and use the building as a coaster station house in 2004!' Rettig

P.S. ...and if you believe that, then lemme sell you a bridge.

:)

So about that arrowbatic....LOL

Coaster design contest is an annual event for Math and Science Days. I recall last year seeing a row of them on the Festhaus stage. I vaguely recall seeing one with a popcorn box as a structural member and joking that it must be Sean Flaharty's submission.

Seriously though the whole Frisbee, Sally Shoot-em-Up dark ride, and waterpark ezpansion sounds like one of the more realistic rumours I've heard (not to mention a very fun and delicious rumour). Heck I'd settle for a MasterBlaster in the waterpark :). (or one of those Big Flush bowl slides)

PKI will not be getting a coaster in 2003.

The agreements for the 2003 additions were signed the day of the Travel Channel SOB shoot according to the park spokespersons.

Sarcasm alert:

No new coaster for PKI in 2003? That's outrageous! They *owe* us a new coaster. If they don't get a tera coaster in 2003 I'm never, ever going back to that park again.

Don't forget "Operation Graduation" June 1st @ SRM - bring Pat Koch a graduation card! See Coasterbuzz News for details.

Not trying to be rude or anything, but if anyone on this board is *expecting* PKI to get something huge for 2003 needs to get a life.

I'm with Moosh -- they haven't built a coaster since *2001*!! Do you know how long ago that was?

If they don't build a tera soon, I'm not going to go.

PKI: People...want...teras. TERA TERA TERA!

Vegas is RIGGED, too.
