From previews that I saw, the show "Justice" on Fox (didn't pay attention to when it airs) highlights a woman getting killed on a coaster (looked like a spinning mouse or pinfari of some kind), while riding with her 14 year old daughter...just to let you all know.
Screamer = anticipointment. I was led to believe it would be the best of the Milers...like MANY things in SoCal, it had merely the *facade* of a good ride... ;)
So do most of you people really watch any old show if it has a coaster in it?
I tend to AVOID shows with coasters, because I know that in most cases, something about it will be misrepresented. Also, I'm sick of seeing that coaster on the Santa Monica Pier. You could start a cable network featuring only shows that have filmed there.

You said, "I'm gonna run you down." I heard, "I'm an orangutan."
^ LOL, actually, I am the final arbiter on such matters... ;)
Seriously, if it's in N. America, odds are I've ridden it....or been denied a ride on it. But I can at least say I *tried*.....someone's patience... :)
I'm about ready to CANCEL my subscription to Cable TV. :( It seems they show VERY LITTLE of the kinds of shows I like to watch, and many of the Channels seem to have fallen into a "Same Ol Same Ol" rut. It's got to the point I feel many of these channels may actually need to RENAME themselves. For Example the History Channel might as well be called "The War and Psuedoscience Channel". The Discovery Channel should be called "The Chopper Channel". The Travel Channel out to be called "The Poker Channel" and TV Land out to call themselves "The Sitcom Channel". Don't get me started on MTV or the Disney Channel! :(
I have begun agressively purchasing DVD Box Sets of my Favorate TV Shows. By the end of the year I should have ammassed enough sets to watch an Evening's worth of TV for ENTIRE YEAR without watching a single episode twice. For an Entire Year there will be no Boring Shows, No Gloom and Doom Politics Infested Newscasts and no 5 minutes of Show 10 Minutes of Commercials to cope with. As far as I'm concerned the Media can telecast itself into oblivion! I'm Liberated!

Well, it's not there anymore. So they'll probably shoot at SFMM or something.
They are always going to portray coasters as something that kills because that is what makes a good show/news story and that is what the general public feed off of. Fear=ratings.
Personally I laugh at shows like that. I think they are hilarious. Then again I just shake my head like "here we go again!"
I was the only one laughing at Final Destination 3. :)

Nope. Heck, I haven't watched a Discovery Channel coaster show in years...prolly not since I was interviewed for one of the Top 10 shows back in 2000. In fact I've rediscovered the joy of being surprised. I avoid constuction updates, layout diagrams, animation, etc so there are as many "unknowns" as possible when I ride for the first time.
Does anyone know how it ended? I watch this show every week, and man, right at the part when they discovered her seatbelt had been undone, my tape went haywire!!! Man that was frustrating. (yeah, I know, I need DVR...) So what did the jury award and what really happened? (at the end they normally show you what really happened, regardless of how the jury came back.)
The girl got 30 million and the show portrayed the accident as being the park's fault even though it did not make sense. The seatbelt came undone by itself halfway through the ride and the light came on. The ride op did not see it because he was flirting but he really could not have done anything at that point. She flew up and hit the bar that had been coming down a few inches, but she hit it with her head when no one had hit their hand on it before. There was no explanation given as to why the lap bar failed and she looked to be stapled pretty good. They made the park look bad in court for not having the seatbelt sensor automatically shut down the ride, and they made the ride op seem incompetent.
Thanks so much!!! It was so weird to see the Scandia Screamer on TV when I rode it last year during my trip to Solace. 8-) *** Edited 9/28/2006 8:37:03 PM UTC by phantomrider3000*** *** Edited 9/28/2006 8:37:30 PM UTC by phantomrider3000***
^ LOL @ Winter Coaster Solace...in these parts, it's just "Solace"... ;)
I wouldn't tease phantomrider about that...'cept I know who that is...and that it'll be received with the same jocularity with which it was delivered... :)
Shame about Screamer...too many "people I trust" have told me that it really WAS a very good ride at one point...just not the same point in time that *I* rode it...
