US President Obama will visit Walt Disney World Thursday to promote a new White House initiative on travel and tourism, the latest installment of his "We Can't Wait" (for Congress) campaign.

The entirety of Main Street was closed down for a better part of the afternoon, and they were directing guests through the backstage areas on the side of Main Street during the "event" to bypass it. I believe the family minus the POTUS was in the park for most of the day, and may be here today as well. They've radically shifted entertainment and park schedules for yesterday and today, adding fireworks at Studios last night (sounded great, but didn't get to see them from where I was, friends who saw them said they were really good), and attempting to shift the crowds away from Magic Kingdom with extra EMH offerings. I don't want to think about how craptacular it was getting to work for the MK cast yesterday (getting to work on a normal day is an exercise in patience there).

If I was him, I'd hang out in the Hall of Presidents all day. Stand there real still then scare people.
Hi
I saw a quote from him indicating that this was one time that his daugthers would envy him. So I thought the First Family wasn't there?

when they found out Mr. Obama was there they turned around and spent the day somewhere else!

That'll show him! (/me rolls eyes)
This may not have been Regulus' reasoning. But, I would want to stay away because the president was there of issues like this:

I'm just ecstatic that Rick Perry has joined Michele Bachmann, and that neither of them will be joining Obama in the Hall of Presidents any time soon.
Vote (Rock you like a) Herman Cain - President of the United States of South Carolina!
Nice Scorpions reference. And there's at least one coaster called Scorpion. So, definitely on topic!

As much as I'd like to take credit, Mike, the reference is actually the work of the Red Team (or maybe it's the Green Team, not entirely sure) - of the "Definitely NOT coordinating with Stephen Colbert SuperPAC", aka Americans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow. The important thing to remember is that Herman Cain *can* coordinate with Colbert, or Stewart, or anyone else - he's not a candidate, or even candid. Trevor Potter (T-Potts to the kids) makes sure that the SuperPAC, ABTT, in no way coordinates with Stephen, since that would technically violate the razor-thin margin left standing by the Citizens United case. What I would have given to be in the Palmetto State today, on the campus of Steve Spurrier's Gamecock nation, to see Cain and Colbert together, arms raised, celebrating the possible candidacy of South Carolina's Favorite Son.
*Apologies for all the CAPS....I checked, and had T-Potts check too, and they're definitely all needed... ;)
edited to note that the event apparently happened at the campus of College of Charleston, not at USC in Columbia. Cain really, ummm, delivered. :)

Nope, they never left DC

Smart idea

That makes me wonder why they shifted everything for two days , then. Not the first time info has been wrong that got out, but then it was never officially said they were coming, but when everything got shifted so much for two days instead of one that was the conclusion everyone arrived at.

Then again, didn't people say that everything was blanked up at King's Island when the Brady Bunch was there back in the 70s?
