Preperations continue as Xcelerator's opening day nears

Posted | Contributed by xbombman

Knott's continues to prepare for Xcelerator's opening day. The ride's purple train has recieved a new paint job and has begun testing. Meanwhile, a red flame has been painted on the third car of the yellow train, which is also being loaded with water dummies. Flames are being painted on the housing around the PLC. The restrooms near the ride's entrance have been re-painted.

In other news, Perilous Plunge has re-opened. Initial reports say that the ride has not changed much, but that capacity is horrendous.

The old VertiGo building is now used to "make your own bear".

Wow... that is probably the best paint job I've seen on a coaster train in awhile.

And who said Cedar Fair couldn't do theme? This is without question the best execution of theme I've seen from them in ages!

That park is looking beautiful. What else there are they planning on repainting? I thought I once heard the Bommerang was going to get a paint job.
Gorgeous! Gets my vote as best looking coaster trains...
I agree! This is the best overall theming of a ride that I've seen since Nemesis! I can almost envision John Travolta and the T-Birds doing a number out front!
What is the PLC? I have no clue what that means.

It is looking great, and Knott's is doing a good job making it fit into the area. But awesome execution of theme? Sorry Jeff, but as nice as this is it's still no where near what Disney or IOA do when it comes to theming. If this is the best they've done for long time then that only shows how far they have to go. Shoot, even Holiday World has at least this much theming on most of their rides (was nice to see you there last weekend. hehe)

But I can't wait til they get this open. I'm hoping to be on it opening week, and it looks like one awesome and incredible ride.

I wasn't comparing it to Disney or IOA, nor would I attempt to. The theme surrounding this ride is perfect and well executed. What would Disney or IOA do differently? Nothing, I suspect.

Man that ride against a sunset is absolutley incredible. I think that though there was doubt about the colors, looks like the scheme works pretty damn well.

To summarize, you are a petty low down weasel and I hope that Jeff removes you from this board for that very reason.

they should put some fire streaks on the sides of the train. Is that a t-bird in front of the station. *** This post was edited by nitronick on 6/5/2002. ***
I like the how the seats resemble real racing seats...it's a nice way of adding headrests.

More of those have got to find their way to the midwest/east coast.

You gotta love the 57 Chevy theming on those trains!I can't wait to get down to Knotts' to ride it!(and Ghostrider)
Actually, Knott's itself is famous for themed attractions. They were the first in America anyway. It's not Cedar Fair, L.P. that did it...;)
