Premier Rides to start fabrication of roller coaster for Great Mall of China

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

When it opens next year, the Great Mall of China near Beijing will be the biggest retail and entertainment center in the world, with 15 million square feet of shops, a theme park, a water park — and the world's tallest indoor roller coaster, imported from Baltimore. The still-unnamed "super launch" coaster will be designed and built by Premier Rides, a company that specializes in roller coasters, water rides and other amusement park attractions.

Does Premier exlcusively use LSM/LIM technology for their launched coasters, or do they have a cable system as well, ie KK/TTD?

Fever I really enjoy the Simpsons. It's just a shame that I am starting to LOOK like Homer.

Premier hasn't used cables - a good move.

I still can't believe they're actually calling this the Great Mall of China.

See, that's the thing. I'm a sucker for clever wordplay and puns, but that's just sooooo predictable.

Isn't their government's censorship of sites like Facebook and YouTube referred to as "The Great Firewall of China"?

Now they just need the Great Ball Of China...

Billy

Of course, if the coaster is shoddily built, it could become the Great Fall Of China.

I never heard the Firewall reference above, but that's pretty good.

Yeah, that's a pretty common terms in tech circles, since China is a big frontier in Internet business, and a lot of the Internet is blocked.
