(pre) SF Great Adventure History?

Does anyone know a source for any type of information on the (brief) history of Great Adventure pre to being taken over by Six Flags?

I have done some web sources, and found very little, and what I did find all seem to consider the history of the park to begin around 1990. I am looking for info from back between 1974 and 1977.

Kind of hard to take a post as objective if a park or coaster name is part of the "user name"

Try this site:

http://www.gadv.com/history.html

It doesn't have a lot of narrative history- but does detail the dates most rides were put in.

Thanks, but already been there.

Years ago (and I do mean YEARS ago)... I got a glossy type of book while visiting Great Adventure. It had all sorts of pictures of the park in it, many of them from when the park was being built. Of course, that was from a 1975 visit. The book is long gone.

I remember there used to be a great site with history and pictures and everything- I can't find it anymore. It must not be up. I think I have the book you speak of though. It has the hot air balloon and tiger on the front- and pictures of construction and it has a description of Runaway Train: "careen and scream at terrifying speeds." lol
Exactly... a leaping tiger and a hot air balloon. Is my memory failing, or is the color scheme kind of yellow and red?
