Power outage at SFMM

A power outage stops the rides at Six Flags Magic Mountain amusement park for about two hours.

The amusement park lost power at about 2 p.m., when an electrical transformer malfunctioned.

Over 15,000 visitors were at the park and about half left during the power outage, causing nearby traffic roads to be jammed.

Extra California Highway Patrol officers were dispatched to handle the additional traffic.

Customers who were at the park during the outage were given a complimentary ticket to attend the park for free at a later date.


Pretty freaky huh, all the rides that were running at the time stopped at a certain point in the ride hat ay they couldn't crash into eachother. BTW, this happend yesterday. It was on FOX 11 LA and they showed some great pics of X.

SFMM went from Amusment Park to Xtreme Park.They skipped Theme park :)

Ride safety systems engage, and a few stoplights go out.

Mind-boggling.

Well, it happens.

Well, when power was restored, if they got the rides running normally again quickly, it would be great to be there! Imagine a park with 1/2 the normal attendance... I love it when that happens (the low attendence for that day, not power outages.)

I would of just stayed there, and when the power would come back, the rides will have 5 minute lines.

Last Thursday at CP there was a huge thunderstorm right over the park. We were in Soak City, and when we were running out the electronic stamp scanners power went out. I couldn't tell or know if the power went out at other places in the park too, but it wouldn't have mattered too much since the rides had been closed.

Ummmmmm, I think he means that S&S rides use air to launch rides so they don't use as much power as other rides, like Superman.
