POWDER KEG CRASH

Ozarks Fox, KSFX, in Springfield, MO just reported that Powder Keg crashed during testing today (Tuesday) and four people were injured. I guess it didn't make it up the lauch, and there was an empty train in the launch building....

Southwest Missouri State University is now THE Missouri State University
Well, the scenario you proposed would be impossible. The train is on a sliding platform when it moves into the launch building. If it doesn't clear the first hill, there is a roll back area. All logical designs would have sensors at the top of the first hill so another train wouldn't be "slid" into the launch building until the first train has cleared the first hill.

My guess would be that there was a brake failure. If not that, the chain lift that is half way through the ride could have stopped for some reason leaving a train stranded at the bottom of the lift. Then, an oncoming train rammed the first train while it was on the stalled lift hill.

Again, that's just my guess, I'd have to see the report to be able to say one way or another.

In theory, that wouldn't be possible either... blocking and sensors being the reason again. So... anyone have the full story, or at least picture proof?

Yikes! This is very bad for SDC. I hope they get the ride fixed up and working safely.

Hopefully there will be some details on what happened soon.

YOu're right...in theory that would be impossible under normal circumstances. But accidents don't happen under normal circumstances. Block violations do happen!

I hate that people were injured, not a good sign. Esp. for a coaster that just opened.

How bad were the trains damaged, if any real damage?

Well, here's the webpage of the News Channel the poster is refering to, but I don't see any information on the subject...

When X-Flight first opened, there were block violations all the time. Luckily, the errors were only encountered with 1 train operation... the train would literally skip through the brake run and fly into the station like something out of RCT.

I hate to say it, but it sounds like maybe something similar happened here (assuming this is true).

Yikes, hopefully this doesn't delay it being open, I had planned on going in a week over spring break.

Hope this doesnt delay anything. I rode Powderkeg last thursday on st. patty's day and it was AWESOME! Better than Wildfire in my opinion. Yeah I was planning on going down there this weekend, scratch that idea.
If it's true, how could it now delay the offical opening?
Of course it would be better than Wildfire! Anything with at least a few airtime hills is better than an airtimeless looper. I'm WF is a good ride but I think PK will be better!! I hope they get it fixed soon!
This is terrible news for SDC. Maybe that ride (buzzsaw/PK) is just cursed. I was supposed to go to the park today, but plans fell through at the last minute. I am glad I wasn't there for that.

Why is there no report of this yet in the news? Anyone find a link yet? I did a Google News search with no luck, you'd think something be'd posted by now?
And still no word on the Ozarks Fox website either?

Lame high-school prank, anyone?

NOTE: Severe fecal impaction may render the above words highly debatable.

His AOL IM ID and Yahoo ID is: IrishFootball42 may I suggest a IM Flood letting said high school senior know what happens when you mess with coaster enthusiast?

A day at the park is what you make it!

What--and pay him ATTENTION? Oh, come on.

I think his account should be cancelled.

There is nothing in the news. As far as I'm concerned it didn't happen until we see otherwise.
