Potential Nashville theme park site environmental nightmare

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

While a theme park developer wants to turn a Nashville area scrap yard into "Thrillopolis," experts and state environmental agencies say the site will require a lot of cleaning up. The scrap yard is likely contaminated with decades of toxic substances that came from shreded cars.

Sounds like a nice place to take the family.

Their mascot could be the Toxic Avenger !!

beat me to the punch there jdancisin......funny movie, not exactly a classic film, but certainly fits the bill....

P.S. Love the sig

Nashville does need a good park. They closed Opreyland awhile ago and my vacations haven't been the same. Sound like it'll cost them a lot to clean up. They may need to look at an alternative site.

It would be cool if they could bring back some of the Opreyland coasters. Chaos was cool. Last I heard is that it was in storage some place.

Like I've been saying (see here (just updated today) and here) for awhile now, that site is the worst possible place to build a theme park. I personally don't care for SFKK's location and think this proposed area is much worse.

If you agree, use the email links I gave on the previous thread linked above! *** This post was edited by Raptor Pilot on 5/17/2002. ***

"Mommy, how do they make the fries glow like that?"

I'm movin to Nashville! I also know the owner of Magic Springs so I'm hoping to get a job there. Would it be open next year? Any other buzzers from this area?

It's his turn to feast, when you ride the Son of Beast.

Are you serious?
From the Tennessean article Jeff mentioned:

a project it hopes to begin later this year and finish by 2005
Maybe instead of "Thrillopolis," they should call it "Toxicity!" And yes, the Toxic Avenger would be the perfect mascot, or maybe even a three-eyed mutated fish named "Toxy."
Welcome to ToxiCity, where you hear System of a Down all the time

no serious, do you know what it costs to comletely dig out the site, and re fill it with clean sand ?

its no fun for the people who have to pay it of for the people who have to do it, a college of mine once did a job like that, He had to wear a special suit and he looked like a freaking alien and could'nt even scratch his leg, it itched for hours, He was so happy when it was time for lunch...
:)

Why does this sound like the OZ project? Oh yes because that's what they wanted to do there as well, clean up a toxic site and put a park on it....this one I'm sure will fly like a rock as well. (sigh)
