Police chief allegedly works on city time as park security manager

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Fox8/Cleveland aired an "I-Team" report last night allegedly showing the police chief of the nearby Village of Reminderville working at Six Flags Worlds of Adventure on city time as the park's security manager. The report coupled video tape of the chief working at the park with time sheets that indicated he was working on the clock with the city.

Did you catch the name of the police chief?

Nope... I didn't, and sadly their Web site doesn't also have the story. But it was fun to watch the guy explain away his work as vacation time while the reporter showed him his time sheets.

Just check out the Chicago news once in awhile. That type of thing goes on constantly here.

Heck in Chicago, NBC5 just did an expose on Cops, Firemen and ambulance drivers who drive drunk, recklessly and still keep their jobs. In fact one guy WAS IN JAIL and he was still getting his EMT salary...

....gives new meaning to the words "overtime" and "double-duty", no?

If you had your choice, wouldn't you rather work at an amusement park? :) I figure of all the bad second jobs he could have he picked a good one....

Shouldn't the city be watching more?

I'm surprised Six Flags didn't find out that he was doing this faster than they did. Or was it Fox8 that found out he was doing this?
this is actually sorta kool cause fox8 is the news we watch when we do watch it. too bad i didnt see it last night.

Well, knowing more about it now this doesn't come as a big surprise. Reminderville, who came up with that name anyway?

....maybe someone should have "remindered" the chief that he already HAD a job....;)
Wouldn't it be in SFWA best interest to have some local political pull?? Follow the money and I'll bet SF locally has to know. After all, if they still want to build a coaster on the animal side now or in the future it "pays" to have someone on your side.

What he did is wrong. The only reason it makes big news is because he is a public official and he is a police officer.

There are people in every profession that do the same thing all the time, so you shouldn't be surprised at all.

Still, no excuses. He got busted.

Someone must have told on him because otherwise, no one would ever look.

Maybe he should be embarassed that he would associate his name with SFWOA. *** This post was edited by Digital Daredevil on 5/18/2002. ***

I just want to make sure that my post does not intend to somehow imply that I was in agreement with the police cheif defrauding his employer (city tax payers) by taking money under false pretenses, that is both morally wrong and illegal. I just happen to think that perhaps someone had to possibly know or make the connection and chose to look the other way.

Why would he be embarassed to have his name "associated" with SFWoA?
