Point Madness debuts at Virtual Midway

Posted | Contributed by Gemini

Point Madness 2004 is an event where 64 Cedar Point attractions are placed in a tournament to determine which is #1. From now through April 22, your votes will determine who wins and who loses.

Very cool idea! Its a little tedious right now because of all the food stands and gift shops in the running. I'm sure it will get much better in round 2.

When I filled this out, I picked the ones that I thought CP most benefitted from rather than my personal favorite of the two choices.
So what 12 over 5 seed does everyone think will happen? I think either the Marina over the Carousel, or Challenge Golf over Lighthouse Point.
These tournaments are always fun, and there will be a few surprises along the way for sure. I did two of these last year around this time. One for steel coasters and wood coasters with Millennium Force and Raven winning respectively.

It will be interesting to see how many coasters will get bumped from the first round. There will be at least one - Raptor or Jr. Gemini. Could there be a upset?:)

Come on SkyRide over Blue Streak! :)
I went for SkyRide over Blue Streak. It was hard choice, but SR always helps those aching feet!
geneticfreak,
where would you find these other tournaments? I would like to see one of the steel or wooden march madness brackets. This is seriously the best time of the year, I'm glad some people in the amusement industry have taken advantage of that.
I ran them on my site last year, but never got around to putting them together this year - no time.:(

I think I have the brackets for the steel tournament buried on one of my computers, but I lost the wooden tournament when my server crashed.

This is a great idea doing it just for Cedar Point. Not too many parks have the widespread recognition to warrant having their own field of 64.

I voted by thinking that if CP had to get rid of one of them, EHich one would i rather see go. WHiule making that decison i considered location, how well it makes use of its location, popularity, significance to the park, return on profit, and what would be able to replace it if it was removed. That is one of the reasons I picked space spiral over sandcastle suites. SS uses minimal amounts of land, is a classic ride, CP'sfirst true skyscrapper of a ride, and nothing else could really go in its place if it was gone. SCS however makes lots of money for the resort, but think about what could go in its place, at least one decent sized coaster if not two of them.
I just thought i would share my voting decisions, not that anyone probably cares though
what is SCS. What ride.
