Pocono Lightning coaster finally opened!

Pocono Play Park in Bartonsville PA closed in 2005. The Pocono Lightning coaster was moved to the new location in East Stroudsburg PA in 2006 but did not open because it needed a new lift motor. Repairs were made and the Pocono Lightning coaster opened in July at the new location. Anyone travelling to Dorney for the final Laser rides or to Knoebel's Phoenix Phall Phunfest can now get their credit at Pocono Play Park.

^LOL, checked them out on the big "birthday" trip earlier this year, but as you said, the ride didn't open until July.

Adding it to the list along with Sylvan, Lake Ontario, Kingston, LaRonde and Rye for next year's midsummer NY/PA/CA extravaganza...hopefully starting off with another birthday party... :)

Ah ha! I must find this park and go now! I had no idea there was even ANYTHING out there. Should be fun.

It's about time ;) I was thinking this coaster was going to end up like the one in Fort Myers that those people kept trying to steal!
How and why does one steal a coaster? I'm thinking about hiring an engineer and a building crew and sneaking off to Great Adventure to steal bits and pieces of Toro. I know a great place for it. LOL

There's a small steel kiddie coaster in Florida, trailer mounted, that people keep hauling off parts of and trying to sell it for scrap.
Was it trailer mounted? When we passed by about a year ago, it looked like a decent-sized kiddie coaster. Maybe it was a carnival ride, I didn't stop to take a look.

Scratch this one of the list of possibles. We were there yeaterday. Coaster was closed. A chat with the owner/manager got him to let us have a ride. Problem was that the motor was too weak to get the train up the lift hill. Even with only two passengers aboard. He said it was the problem all year. He then told us it was nothing but trouble from the time he put it in and it would be taken down and not be there next year. We came close to getting this one (four tries at the lift hill) but just missed!!1
