Planning a trip to PKI

I have a few questions on my trip to PKI.

1. Since everyday operations are starting on Friday the 20th when i go, should i expect more people to be there and what is the wait for IJST gonna be like to those who have been there.

2.Also what else other than the coasters is worth going on, cause it seems like they have a few good ones in Drop Zone and Delirium, but what else is there to ride that isnt named the Beast or something.

3. Lastly should i pump up the asprin dosage and bring a crash helmet for SOB, it seems to be a very rough ride.

Ride Beast at night!! Its a must!!! I'd pass on Tomb Raider unless the line is really short. Son of Beast is really rough on your lower back and legs so a crash helmet isn't gonna help!! Have a great trip and I expect a trip report!

Thanks,
DMC

you got it crash thanks

Ride SOB. To me, it is MUCH better this year then in years past. It may be a littl rough, but to me it was that roughness that a woodie is supposed to have. I enjoyed my ride on SOB a few weeks ago.

O, and supposidly dont ride over the wheels, so middle seat of a car. Never tried this myself to know if it works tho...

Yeah - SOB is almost rideable when you find the middle of a car. I suggest the 2nd seat. As for other stuff not to miss - our normal loop around the park includes Beast, Racer, Tomb Raider, Top Gun, Scooby and Delirium. Flight of Fear and Face-off aren't too bad but the lines can be.
I would wear some kind of football or hockey uniform to be able to withstand SOB. I love TR:TR, it's unique, so give it a shot. Usually right after the walk back it's a pretty short line. Scooby's Haunted Castle is pretty cool also.

And yes, not riding over wheels does work, but it is still really rough. The Beast at night is a must.

You're going to get mixed reactions on Son of Beast. Personally, I ususally get 3-4 laps in. Another don't miss is the world's first Arrow six looper, the Vortex. Definitely a good coaster. As others have said, a night time ride on the Beast. No one can really predict the lines for Italian Job. I would say it's safe to say that the line should be long since it is the newest attraction. Beyond that, the lines will vary. Tomb Raider:The Ride is pretty good, if the wait is no more than 30 minutes. I would try at least one lap on each side of the Racers as one car is backwards. Top Gun is pretty fun, but a little short in duration and a line that takes forever to walk through. Delirium is hands down the best flat in the park. Drop Zone is great if you like freefall rides. But, DZ usually has a long wait. Face/Off is pretty intense, but, is not worth more than a 30 minute wait. Flight of Fear is a great indoor looping coaster and is not worth waiting for over 45 minutes. I have tested the SOB wheel theory and it does work. Adventure Express is in my opinion, one of the better mine train rides. Usually, this doesn't have much, if any, of a line. If you have any rugrats, PKI has the best kids area. If you're interested in water parks, there is Boomerang Bay. I haven't been since it was switched over, but when it was waterworks, it was pretty decent. Don't forget a slice of LaRosa's pizza. Pretty good stuff.
IJST opening day to public is the 5/20 (although it has been open for "technical rehearsal". Expect some delays! It took us about 1 hour to ride it on 5/15. I liked the ride but the line does not move fast since they are running two train (car) operation. The launch is not as intense as Flight of Fear.

Scooby Doo's Haunted House may have a long line but goes rather quickly. TR:TR wait can be extremely long. Flight of Fear is the best steel coaster in the park (to me at least). If the wait is out of the building, expect about 1 hour wait. Top Gun is one of the better suspended coaster. Try Drop Zone. The view from the top is ..... Well, I will let you see for yourself. Just DON'T LOOK DOWN!

Other than the Beast, other coasters are not world class but good. Son of Beast can enjoyable if you ride the middle seats of each car. Vortex is good Arrow Looper. The Racer backwards seems somewhat rougher this year. Face/Off is ok inverted boomerang. Adventure Express is good mine ride with a bizarre ending.

DO NOT FORGET TO RIDE DELIRIUM! This is easily my second favorite ride in the park after the Beast.

If your going on Friday the lines won't be bad enough to skip anything. Just head to the Action Zone first, and hit Face/Off and Drop Zone. From there on out you should have an easy day. I've been a PKI pass holder for the past five years and I say FoF is there best steel coaster. And make sure you ride the beast at night like everyone else says. Try Top Gun in the front seat and Vortex in the back sat the best seats in my opinion, and have a wonderful time! *** Edited 5/17/2005 10:23:49 PM UTC by coastertigger***

Definently ride Drop Zone, The Beast,Sone of Beast, Flight Of Fear, Delirium, The Racer, and Vortex if you feel up to it. Try other things if you have time, but I believe that those are the *essentials*.

I like disco.
Everyone is forgetting about the Eiffel Tower. Go to the top for some great views of the "ants"!

I survived a Japanese typhoon and the Togo flat ride of death!!!!!!

Ah yes....the Tower!

Drop Zone and Delirium are a MUST! Do those first thing, since they tend to get crowded pretty quickly. Delirium has EXCELLENT capacity though, even on the busiest days.

I would do all the coasters if this is your first time, but Adventure Express, The Racers, and Flight of Fear are a must as well (in that order also...lol.) The Beast was running EXCELLENT when I was there a few weeks ago.

As far as Son of Beast, forget the padding.........take some percocets or better yet....morphine! You will need it. ;-)

I expect IJST's lines to be the biggest draw obviously. You just might want to get that one first.

Tomb Raider is fun although the lines get pretty long, and Scooby's is a blast with friends. Don't forget the Beastie. NICE little woodie. Face Off is fun when it's not packed. Top Gun is usually a short wait.

Most of all.....have fun and take it easy!

thrillerman1, did you forget Top Cat's Taxi Jam? One of the best in the park. Rough though. A must ride at night. :)

Following that, I really enjoyed Top Gun at night, in front of course. Don't miss FoF. What a rush.

Is Eiffel open?
Potato works french fries, mmmmmmm. You should try those to. Along with the LaRosa's pizza and some Skyline Chili. But don't do it right before you ride Delirium.
Thanks for the suggestions, and yes i will definately post a trip report and will try to ride the beast at night, dont know how long im staying casue i got to be back up north for work on saturday, but definately will try!

Don't forget the blue ice cream. No trip to PKI is complete w/o a cone of blue ice cream.

Their war. Our world.
If he eats everything we told him to, he wont be able to ride MF if he goes to CP. Eh, most cant anymore anyways.

I hear good things about the Happy Days Diner as well. Will have to try that next time.

My girlfriend and I will be going to PKI this coming Sunday and Monday.

I know none of you can give me a 100% accurate picture of what lines will be like, but can anyone who's been there on similar days give me some sort of indication of what to expect, crowd-wise? I figure SUnday will be pretty busy, but am pretty clueless as to what to expect on Monday [the 30th].

Any help?

Thanks.
