Place to stay at CP.

I am staying at the Howard Johnson Express Inn on July 4th and 5th. Is this a good setup and what time do I get in the park? Normal time or ERT? Thx

Well... I think the park would be packed those days... and I believe you would get in at the general public time of 10 am. I dont think the HoJo is owned by Cedar Point.

I am only 15 and this is the only time to go. I realize the place will be packed but with the excellent staff will lines reach 2 hour waits?

I am sure MF will be up there. Its still the hottest ride in the park. Get their early and do the "running of the bulls" back to MF. Get a lap in then if you can, jump on Mantis. Circle the back of the park (mine ride, mean streak, gemini, magnum (woodstock express if you are so inclined), and corkscrew.... then hit Iron Dragon, Wildcat, Wicked Twister, Disaster Transport and then look @ Raptor's queue. Usually its packed until around 3 or 4 pm when the lines get to be about 30 minutes or less.

Here is my question. On the CP website they are open until midnight on the 4th but the fireworks start at 10. So for two hours when they are watching fireworks will rides be open and will I be able to ride?

Anyone have an idea on my above post?

The fireworks are over the beach (hotel and Wicked Twister side). It's been a few years since we've gone on July 4th, but I believe they do keep the coasters open. The fireworks is an awesome show, but I don't think they last for 2 hours. I think the show is close to 45 minutes.

I am pretty sure while the fireworks are going on, the lines get shorter because people are watching the show. Unfortunatly during the day the lines will get pretty long. Watch out for lines like Millennium Force and Raptor because when they are filled to capacity, the wait is very long. And remember Millennium Force's crowd always spills into Mantis' line.

I stayed at Howard Johnson express once. If its the same one i stayed at it is the road into the park, i think its right by breakers express

Rides continue running right through the fireworks show (which is about 30 minutes). I remember working Magnum and hearing/seeing the fireworks at the back of our platform. If you can avoide the HoJo's, I suggest doing so as my family and I had a bad experience there. Joe's strategy will work for you. Marina gate before the gates open, run with the bulls to MF, hit Mantis quick, and then head to the back of the park. The 4th wasn't so bad last year - July 2nd was actually busier. The lines stay long later on the 4th though as all the season passholders come in at night just to watch the fireworks. Full queues (not long entrance on Magnum is between 45 and an hour, Raptor is probably about an hour with full queues. MF is 2 hours or more if all queues are full. Wait until late afternoon to ride Raptor for sure.

I stayed at Breakers Express 2 weeks ago and it was great. Reasonably priced (about 60 bucks for a regular room, but it's more during peak season), very clean, nice, and you get ERT at 9:30 on Force and Wicked Twister!

How do they do the ERT with the hotel?

I am going to stay at Brakers Express next week.

You show the people at the CP front gate at 9:30 your guest card for the hotel and they let you in. WT and MF are both open.

WT and MF are ERT only for Hotel Breakers guests. HoJo's is right by HB, but doesn't have the ERT. HB is basically part of CP. Yesterday, Mantis reached 3 hours in the queues, and Power Tower hit 2 hours a couple weeks ago. July fourth is going to be a bit worse, with the cars parked down the causeway and all. Fireworks will run about 45 minutes this year from what I've heard, and coasters will still be running.

WT was down when Mantis hit 3 hours yesterday, but MF was up and running...not sure what the wait was on MF, but it was probably just as high, creating the "spillage" to the Mantis line.

HB is probably the place to stay, if the ERT means anything to you. Otherwise, HoJo's is really close...better make those reservations though, if you haven't.
