PKI's Scrambler

I was at PKI today (9-27-03) and noticed the Scrambler on the list of rides that weren't in operation for the day. When we walked past the ride, it was gone. It had been mostly demolished. All that was left was the part in the middle that the seats came out of. Does anybody know if it is being moved or completely removed? Also, why is it gone? I wonder what PKI has in store for that spot.
Not "demolished" or damaged afaik... Not sure, but I expect it back next season.... Possibly a queue line for a Fearfest attraction... Not a hyper or 4D. ;)

The Scrambler was taken out in fact for queue line use. There is a haunted house right next to it and the lines usually back up into the main pathway, so they figured they would use that space for a queue line. They say it will be back next year but I'm not so sure.

I have a theory...

If an attraction that apparently operated over next to the Wave Swinger for buyout events shows up in the park as an upcharge attraction, then I would expect to see them put it there where the Scrambler...uh...is (the center and two sweeps were still there when I walked by). Then the Scrambler could go in somewhere else.

I'll leave it mysterious for the moment, not knowing if anybody else saw the Fun and Safety Guide sign next to the Flight of Fear arch today. I'll have a photo available soon. :)

Didn't it get removed because a tree fell on it? Oh wait, wrong park. :)

Cedar Point twice in one season? Not bad for a Californian. Trip #2- October 19

They take it down to use for fear fest then its back up next year.

My life is spent in 5 foot ques made of metal posts standing for hours on end just to sit down and get up to do it all over again 3 minutes later.

Isn't that kind of a waste of time and money? Why not just put temporary queue lines in the midway for the haunted attraction?

Arena football has arrived in the Windy City. Go "Chicago Rush"

It, like the other flats, is completely stripped down for inspection, refurbishment and maintenance every winter. It just gets an earlier start because of Fearfest.
I agree with BogeyMon, thanks for actually thinking through this. Scrambler along with all flat rides get stripped down inspected for cracks in welds, then put back together before the start of the next season. It was rushed this year so that they can use the area for queue during fearFest.
I guess you don't have to know how to spell to be a maintenance man.

I think it would be logical that at this point in time they figured they'd get a headstart and strip it down for off-season maintenance. I know CP has certainly gained an appreciation that the longer you make the season, the less time you have to fix up your rides. I'm sure PKI realizes it even more with an even longer season.

What time does the water show start?

It's funny... they don't really work on the rides at MarineWorld in the off season. In fact, the only one *regularly* worked on in the off season is V2. I guess the more rides you have, the more time you need.

Remind me then not to go to SFMW. I like the idea of rides being stripped down to nothing, inspected via NDT and then rebuilt with every bolt tightened.

BGT apparently takes the Ubanga-Banga Bumper Cars down *every year* for Howl-O-Scream....at least PKI can afford to give up one of their flats...;)
