PKI Top Gun Train Replacing

I was thinking.....scary thing isnt it....anyways, as i was saying. Seeing as Arrow Dynamics has filed for bankruptcy and wont be building anything new soon. What will Kings Island do about the situation regarding Top Gun only having one train. It slows down the flow of the ride so much. You have to wait in line alot longer than you did before, and I don think the general public will like this very much. Do you think that they will hire Vekoma to replace the train seeing as they have just made the floorless version of it. Dont you all think it would be pretty fun having a floorless version of top gun.

So heres the questions....1-should PKI even replace the train?....and 2-if they do hire Vekoma to build them another train should they use the floorless version of those trains, or stick with the version PKI is using right now?

I can say that the Vek trains greatly improved Vampire, they swing more to, its an obvious improvement really though so of course all Arrow suspends should get this treatment, check out my old vs new Vampire pics

It is not a simple as it sounds. It would require a station overhaul because the cars only have one row each and when you are getting into an Arrow suspended there is a large step down from the station floor level - one that can't exist on the Vekoma floorless design. It also requires extra supports to be added.

This isn't a very big thing but they would also have to cut some trees and bushes down because the trains hit them now. When you said should PKI even replace th train. Are meaing leave it at one car operation. That would be a very un smart thing to do I think. Even if they keep the same type of trains, the arrow one) they still need it. I waited about an hour and half the other week and the line just doesn't seem to move. They need 2 trains no matter what.

Why does it have one train anyway? Didn'y it used to have two train?

The train will be fine. Have you seen how those things are built? I don't doubt that the only thing that needs to be replaced is the fiberglass tubs. Don't make more of this than it actuall is.

Actualy, I heard on some web-site that PKI has enough spare parts to re-build the train. That would require no help from Vekoma or Arrow. And the damage that was belived to have happened (cars flying off the track and being totaled) is not true. The train hit at 20 MPH or less so "major" damage should not have happened.
Where it hit it would of had to be going at least 30mph maybe 40mph.

Beast_rocks, look at the article on the right.

Jeff seibert said the the train was going about 20 MPH when it hit the truck. And you have to remember that the train could have hit the truck and then rolled back to where eventualy stoped at.

having ridden both the old and new version of the vampire, i can safely say that the old version was better. the cars were just so much better to ride in. the new trains create a lot more headbanging and arent half as comfortable. it is often hard to tell that your legs are free unless you look down at them.
these vekoma cars arent all they are cracked up to be!

From what ive heard TG is one of the better arrow suspended coasters. If this is true then why change it. I mean the fact of it getting the new cars would be cool but right now the only problem I found in the ride was it being a little to short. Put the vekoma trains on a coaster that is not as good with the arrow trains. I highly doubt it will get these new trains, there is so much work to do and they already have one good train which means they need one more instead of getting 2 new ones and getting rid of one.
I think PKI could go to a fiberglass distributer and get them to do it. Or go to who ever made the trains for Arrow, they don't make them themselves I'm guessing.

I would be really sad if BBW got those trains. Part of the fun is being in something below the track, it creates a unique sensation. Nothing below, it just wouldn't be the same.

Maybe for a ride like Iron Dragon, JMHO but I found ID very, very weak compared to BBW, there could be some good in it.

A little off topic, but not too far, has anyone noticed the "extra" piece of track beside the Top Gun brake run? It's down beside the maintenance road... My friend and I were discussing it while we waited for the ride. Maybe its one of those days where you take something apart and put it back together but end up with spare parts...

Yes I'm 15, no I'm not childish, I'm not being sarcastic, well maybe I do have somewhat of an ego...

It amazes me what parks are capable of on-sight... with good mechanics and tools, practically anything can be repaired. Even IF Arrow can't rebuild/replace the train, I'm sure another contractor could.
Yes, but we all know what can happen when you get a third party involved. Just take a look at X...

There are many more examples of outside sources workong out fine than not so. In fact, virtually any amuesment/coaster manufacturer could make new trains, for a price of course. Just because X is messed up (which really isn't a surprise) doesn't mean it's that way all the time. People act like coasters are as complex as the space shuttle and can only be worked on by people with PhD's.

And hey, I can think of some examples where a coaster's own builder couldn't get it right *cough* Deja Vu *cough*

I'm fairly sure that that is where they kept one of the trains at night. They probably kept one train there and one in the station.
