PKI to add Delirium for 2003

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

According to Paramount's King Island's latest season pass holders' newsletter, Delirium is the second new attraction the park will debut in 2003. The multi-armed ride, which appears to be spinning in an illustration, is described this way: "One moment, you are suspended upside down, next you are rushing face-first toward the ground, then nearly upside down again, all in seconds."

The ride described may be a Huss Delirium. The park used a Huss Giant Topspin as the vehicle for this year's Tomb Raider: The Ride.

So much for the Giant Frisbee theory. If this report is true, especially the multi-armed part, then this is definitely not a Frisbee. The Delirium, however, is sort of a 4 frisbee-in-1 ride. I'm happy with this decision, as long as they didn't buy the water effects option :)

I wonder why they didn't go with the Giant Frisbee, that is if this holds up. After watching the video on the Huss site, I think I might know why. The ride action is somewhat similar to a skycoaster. The dimensions are similar too. Maybe the figured that they didn't need two similar rides in the park, especially when the one they have brings in about $45 a ride.

But does the Huss Delirium go upside down? And do the seats face outwards? It doesn't look like it from the video. I wouldn't completely cross out a Giant Frisbee yet.

How can you not believe something that the park announced in their newsletter? According to the news article, it will be formally announced tomorrow anyway.

I don't believe that article or the season pass newsletter. I *know* it's a tera, because that's what Mamoosh and Den said.

Are they doing the water effects I think that would be cool. But probably turn into a maintenence nightmare. *** This post was edited by SupermanRoS13 on 9/25/2002. ***
According to Shaggy, it would be a giant frisbee.
I have seen a thread from him before on this and I am sure he might chime in again on this one.

I didn't say it was a tera. I said it was a snorgacoaster.

Delirium looks lame from the video on the Huss site. Hope it's a Frisbee.

'Snorga,' 'Tera,' same difference.

Seriously, though, I hope it's a Frisbee, as well. They're great fun.

Will they get a coaster to replace the standup Cobra coaster?!
I do not believe it to be a Huss Delirium at all. I believe it to be a Huss Giant Frisbee with inverted outward-facing seats simply themed or named "Delirium" by PKI.

The name leads to some confusion though, but is just sharing the name that the PGA model used this year.

Although being called Delirium, it is my understanding that it has nothing to do with the manufacturer's shelf name of the ride.

Never-the-less we will know the details tomorrow.

Can't wait. It's pretty funny that we've all been talking about a Huss Frisbee for all this time but it may end up being something completely different...

Well, PKI definitely likes to keep fans guessing. I am surprised no one has mentioned the blurb about:

"And we're not finished yet..."

I agree (for the most part) with Shaggy that it will NOT be a HUSS Delrium. But the part of the article that appears to teach away from it being a Giant Frisbee is the fact that it describes the ride as being "multi-armed". I do not know how one would come to that description looking at the Giant Frisbee on the HUSS website.

Maybe it's a Kamikazee :)

Well remember that this would be the first Huss Giant Frisbee, and the first with outward facing seats. Perhaps Huss has revamped their design, or PPD&E requested a particular design or look that included arms.

Also, take a look at the Mondial version at PCW and you probably get a better idea. Here is a link to Kevin Reids terrific site with fantastic pics of Psyclone.

I mean that thing looks terrific, so I cannot wait to see one like it (albeit larger) at PKI.

I am confident PKI's will be a Huss model. I believe the park has a good working relationship with Huss falling on the heels of last year's TR install.

It will definitely be a Giant Frisbee. Huss has already said many times they have sold their first Giant Frisbee for the 2003 season, but they have made no mention of selling a Delerium model. Also, since the Delerium's cost is close to 8 million dollars, I don't see them spending that much money in back to back years.

Can't you guys read the press release, it's not a Gaint Frisbee. It is a Huss Delerium. The Giant Frisbee your heard got sold can go to any park that still hasn't annoced their 2003 ride yet.

The Mantis is real. The Mantis is out there. The Mantis is protecting my yard from West Nile Mosquitos (No Joke).

It's probably a Chance Revoulition just like the one named Delirium at PGA

It isn't so bad. . .
Once you're used to it

Quote from the article:

"Paramount's Kings Island will be flipping its visitors into Delirium next season. According to the park's latest season pass holders' newsletter, that's the name of the second new attraction the park will debut in 2003. "

NAME of the attraction is Delerium. No where does it say the Huss Delerium. I have heard from someone at Huss that the Frisbee was specifically going to Kings Island next year. They also told me last May that TR was a Giant Topspin, but of course no one believed me.

No we cannot read the press release because the article above is NOT the press release. It is a Cincinnati Post blurb mentioning the season Passholder newsletter which is NOT a formal announce. The formal announce will take place tomorrow, Thursday the 26th, and official press releases will be given out then.

Again, I FIRMLY believe "Delirium" to only be the name PKI chose for the attraction and has nothing to do with the manufactured model name. It will be a Huss Giant Frisbee.
