PKI Star Trek

I was at PKI a few years ago and I saw a man dressed up as a Klingon with a woman dressed up as a Romulan near the fountain by the pizza shop(Professional actors employed by PKI). They both were dillusional and talked like there really was a federation and like they were part of their "true" planet's culture. I even learned a little Klingon from the Klingon! I was telling my cousin about this and now I want to go back to PKI this season whenever this might happen again. So, do any ride-ops or employees of PKI know how often this happens? I've been to PKI two or three times since and have seen nothing like it since. Are there any other people out there who have had a close encounter similar to mine?

If you build it, they will come.

About 4 or 5 seasons ago, the Klingons were let go. They no longer roam Paramount Parks. Why? They freaked out guests and were seen as a pointless waste of time and money.

The Klingons were roaming characters like the nick toon characters. They don't do this anymore. Sorry.

Shaggy, pretty sure it was 7 years ago they stopped, not sure though. I started in 98 (6 years ago) and I don't remember them in the park then.

I'd like to see Data wandering around personally..... heh.

Wish I had the chance to see the Klingons! Hopefully we'll see something just as cool at PKI. Hopefully I'll see some of you there! The gates will open soon :D

It's too bad they got rid of them. I watched one of the Klingons put a bunch of obnoxious "Maryln Manson" kids to shame four or five years ago. He had all of us "older folks" laughing out loud.

Looks like the only way to get Klingon interaction (outside of a convention) is to head toStar Trek the Experience in Las Vegas.

I thought it was great to be able to get sloshed in Quark's bar while getting harassed by a Ferengi and a Klingon.

crizznote...if you recall seeing both a Klingon and a Romulan, they were probably part of a touring Star Trek exihibit that was at PKI for a month or so back in 1999.

It was in an area off to the right of the plaza, just after the entrance to the park, and was mostly props and such from the various Star Trek television series and movies. They also had people dressed up as various races from Star Trek and they stayed completely in character as they would interact with the guests.

I recall seeing both the Klingon and the Romulan, as well as a female Vulcan, a Ferengi, and a Starfleet officer. All in all it was a nice freebie attraction, and I think throughout that season it visited all of the various Paramount parks.

I miss that too. I got my pic with a ferengi and a vulcan before as a kid there. It would be pretty interesting to see a mini trek experience at PKI. with Quorks bar there and everything. I was always suprised that they didn't turn their simulator ride into something with Star Trek. That would have been sweet to be in a dogfight and the seats react with the people on the screen as the ship was hit. The one true alien race that never gets used enough is the Andorians! Those guys rock! Thank God for Enterprise! And i'm still pissed Nemesis didn't do that well in theaters, that was the best next gen movie so far! And the funniest trek movie so far! I think the next movie will have the Titan with a mixture of the trek series NextGen,DS9,and Voyager.

May very well have been 7 years ago. To be honest, I know they have been gone at least 5 seasons. And good riddance, I avoided those things like the plague.

In my opinion, it was the equivilent of the folks dressed as spooks that follow you around and disrupt your evening at Halloween events. The idea is fun enough, but if someone invades my personal space, then we have a problem.

I really don't understand why PKI doesn't build a Star Trek themed ride. It would make the perfect theme.
Star Trek doesn't have a broad enough appeal. Your either into it or your not, and those who are not, often find it quite obnoxious and silly. I don't really want to get into a debate over it(been there and done that), but as a fan of the shows, and someone who has plenty of friends who can't stand it, I'm glad Paramount and the Hilton created a spot for people who are into it, and I think they should leave it at that.

People complain about clones, yet can't even come up with original conversation, which is ten times worse.

1. Cost of licensing.
2. Producers of Star Trek are EXTREMELY picky about attractions based on their theme.

Wasn't there a Star Trek attraction at Universal Florida a few years back? I seem to remember it was near Kongfrontation.

I actually like messing with the male klingon. My friend had a scrunchy (sp?) and he followed us around one day and then was like "what is this hair... thing?" He actually played the character well.

Though they were pointless.

I look for them to put in a Short movie @ the Paramount Action FX Theater at one point. As a Trekkie/Trekker, I know that the producers were wanting to do an origional IMAX movie(in 3D no less), but that has fallen through for the time being, but a 3D action fx movie is a strong possibility, from what I'm hearing, since they already want to dabble in that area, and it wouldn't be way too costly, since it would probably only be there for a season. I'm wanting to hit Star Trek: The Experience if I go to Vegas later this year, but only time will tell...

Personally I'd love to see a Borg themed dark ride/haunted house type attraction(interactive would be best!), but that's just me.

Yeah, if coasters WEREN'T men we'd have Raging Cow instead!;)
