Big update for Midwest Coaster Central this week. For starters, the Ohio coaster season has begun with PKI opening weekend. I was there and took several shots of their new Nickelodeon Central themed area, including the new Runaway Reptar roller coaster. Oh, I also have some shots of the refurbished Flight of Fear trains. Talk about a worst to first coaster!
Secondly, time for yet another X-Flight update. The park invited enthusiasts to attend a hard hat tour of the construction site. Being only 15 minutes away, I decided to take a long lunch that day. Included with this update are pics of the station, transfer switches, lift and up close and personal shots with the trains.

And also about the New ride running under Beast will not happen, PKI doesn't want anything getting to close to the Beast "and that's a fact":)

If nothing is going to run under the Beast, why are they clearing land on either side of and underneath the Beast? Maybe they want to plant some vegetables.
Scott, GREAT website, fantastic photos. Can't wait for SRM/SFKK!

PKI latest rumor!!!!Kenton cove will be refurbished, yet this area will become "Adventure Zone" Adventure Express will be moved (future) to this area with an Indiana Jones theme, perhaps between the Vortex and the first drop of the Beast. This revamped area will include the worlds largest darkride themed for Paramounts upcoming movie "Tomb Raider". It is said to rival the Indiana Jones ride at DL. The White Water Canyon ride entrance will move to this "zone" completing a five ride themed area.
I really doubt that. I mean River Town is River Town, I don't think that will ever change. The Keelboat Canal is very old and warn down. They will probably tear it down and build either a water ride or coaster. I also highly doubt Adventure Express moving. There are too many tunnels and it is obviously specifically designed for its current location. River Town's area is too small. If they were to create a new area, which is possible, it would probably be somewhere behind Coney Mall. Also, I don't think PKI can make an Indiana Jones Ride because Disney owns the copyrights to it. A dark ride is also possibe, but not in Rivertown. It would destroy the entire atmosphere.
read the Cincinnati post.....Kings Island states that they have had enough of the coaster wars and will be modeling themselves to be more like Disney and Universal studios with rides that are geared to the environment in which their parks are located. They have lost a lot of money in the last few years due to heavy rains at PKI, therefore they feel indoor rides are more appropriate. "Tomb Raiders the ride" will be similar to the DL attraction. Paramount is a partner with Universal studios on many projects such as the original "Psycho" (also check out the movie Raiders of the Lost Ark, it's a Paramount movie.) Anyway, it's wishful thinking!!!!
I read that too. It's just a rumor. I honestly don't think PKI will ever be like IOA etc. PKI is a thill park/family fun park. They seem to rotate that every other year. This year will be a thrill ride, but seeing what PKI has done from the past, it will be a roller coaster. PKI is a coaster park as well.
the unfortunate thing is that PKI continues with it's old methods and never seems to open any attraction timely. It's sad but with the money that they spent on SOB they could have been spent to do some neat things elswhere in the park. The KCKC is demolished as of Sat 4th. All that is left is part of the lift hill, the final drop and the concrete of the loading platform. They are really in a hurry to begin construction on something! Also the land freed by the demolition of the KCKC seems to be about 5 acres. Plenty of room for a darkride. I hope the rumor is true. I have ridden the DL Indy attraction. Something similar would go over well in PKI as a family attraction.
Like I said, a dark ride would ruin the River Town atmosphere. A flying coaster could also fit in that area.
