I am considering going to PKI on the day after SRM (Sunday). If I want to avoid the crowds, is this a stupid thing to do, or are the summer weekend crowds not yet happening then? Thanks.
According to the PKI calendar at pki.com, the park is closed for a private party on Sunday, June 1.

Don't try and tell Roy Wally, I mean Craig Ross, that you drove across the country with your kids and family just because that is where they wanted to spend their vacation just to find it is closed. Boss Ross, I mean Craig will just point you to sign out front saying "Private event" and say sorry.

I think the sell out date in June is to a collection of companies not just one. There is a story behind why the park is now sold out the first sunday of June though I'm not sure how accurate it is, but I can believe it.

Kings Island started selling out the park on the first sunday of June to the same company back around 98 or 99. So unless you are in that company, sorry.Don't try and tell Roy Wally, I mean Craig Ross, that you drove across the country with your kids and family just because that is where they wanted to spend their vacation just to find it is closed. I actually got an e-mail from someone that was upset with PKI because they would not allow them to enter the park that day. This was a couple of years ago.
When I told them they should have checked with the park before going, they said they had done that but figured they would be let in no matter what when the park found out they drove a long way.
You can't blame the park for saying no.
