PKI, loosing business?

I went last year on the last operating day in november and it was not cold like you would expect it and believe it or not that was a very crowded day. Someone told me a radio station gave a way free tickets or somethin but still there was a lot of people there. I remember going at like 4 thinking I would easily get a lot of rides in but I remember leaving with like SOB and the Beast.

Beast_rocks, I also went on those days in November last year, and it's the most crowded I've ever seen it. Even Adventure Express was backed up into the midway.

Come to think of it, I went this year on a Friday, and after getting walk-on rides on the Beast, Vortex and FoF, the AE line was 15 minutes. What's up wit that?

He let the contents of the bottle do the thinking; can't shake the devil's hand and say you're only kidding.

We just got back last night and we were at PKI on Sunday and Monday..Except for Tombraider and Drop Zone, every ride was either a walk-on or a 10 minute wait.

I took numerous rides on The Beast (FRONT CAR-5 MIN WAIT) and SOB- (FRONT CAR 10 MIN WAIT)...maybe we just went on off days.

On Thursday, on attendance was down a bit because of threating weather. The forecast was for showers and thunderstorms all day. That keeps PKI's attendance down when there is a threat for bad weather.

Yes, Thursday was nearly a walkon for everything. FoF's line was just in the station at times.

As with most parks, there are busy days and not so busy days. I have complete faith in the GP that in july they will start coming more often.

I suggest you to attend this Saturday and Sunday then re-post your thoughts as to whether or not PKI attendance is down.

I bet your concern will subside.

I agree Shaggy. I avoid especially Saturdays altogether. I hate going then. I like going on days like yesterday (thurs). Midweek and storms predicted sure drops attendance. (The weather is unpredictable in Cincy. Why do the weathermen even try?)

Shaggy, having been to sveral of the past Goldpass ERT sessions on Saturday`s, by the time noon rolled around I left the park, and they were close to having to use the overflow lot, (DeepSouth) and there was still a line of cars waiting to get in. Today the crowds were light, a typical summer day. This Sunday will be extremly crowded because of Goldpass bring a friend free day. Also, next week will be busy with the fourth of July and Nights of Fire (when the park will remain open until midnight.)

When will the ACE brick be returning to International Street? It still has not been put back in front of the glass window next to where they took it out a few weeks ago.

The weather has been really bad this year. Although I haven't been there every day, I have already been there for 3 days when PKI closed early due to weather compared to 1 day all of last year.

Weekdays are ALWAYS slow compared to Saturdays and Sundays. On weekdays, Vortex (where I work this year) is a walk on 60% of the time, but it still gives just as many rides on Tuesday from 11am - 9pm as it does on Saturdays (10am - 11am and 9pm - 10 pm are really slow on weekdays).

Keep in mind that last year, PKI was one of the only major parks to gain attendance due to its great kids additions. This year, the park greatly increased its capacity as TR:TR gives about 3 times as many rides as King Cobra did. Slingshot also is brand new, and its que is always full. I think that the new brakes on Beast increased its capacity (the trains stop closer to the station, allowing for less time between trains in the station). And SOB seems to run faster, with not as much speed lost in the mid course brakes, so that probably gets higher capacity this year too, as last year there were a lot of times when they waited a while with no train in the station. These all add up to a park that gives a lot more rides than it did last year, accounting for less waiting time.

I did go this saturday, and amazingly the park really cleared out around 9 or 10. I rode the beast 2 times in 20 minutes getting on the last ride of teh night last seat. I got in line at 10:40 expecting a 30 to 45 minute wait and was suprised to see almost walk on. So I went around again. This was really weird to me because I go on a lot of saturday nights and this thing is packed, nope not saturday.
Today (Sunday) the park hit 5000 guests.........just ask Sean F how crowded it was.

5000 add another zero there. I heard how bad it was

Part of a Flight Attendant's arrival announcement: "We'd like to thank you folks for flying with us today. And, the next time you get the insane urge to go blasting through the skies in a pressurized metal tube, we hope you'll think of us."

We went by the park a little after noon today and it was packed! Once we got home, I called since we were planning on going after getting different clothes on from church and they were evidently over capacity!! She said most likely we may not be able to get in. I wonder if Bring-A-Friend day had anything to do with it... Whatever happened, I really don't see them "losing" business and surely nothing that would do much damage anyways. I hope they see that a high capacity, trusty B&M coaster could help out a lot*. ;)

*Don't tell me that I don't know what they need or whatever. It's just me playing around.

The weather in northern ohio has been very hot and muggy lately. That would contribute to short lines for rides. But don't try to get into the water park. For the last two years i haven't been to CP with grosly long lines (except for the MF or on the holoween nights), i think the capacity is high enough to absorb most normal weekdays now. I don't know to much about what is happening at PKI though, but it can't be to different weather-wise.
Yes, i couldnt belioeve the crowd today!!!!!!! I was drivin to a friend's house, and we passed it, and MAN! EVERY emergency lot was FULL. EVery part of the grass was full. People parked in a baseball field near it! Wholy cow, insane stuff. But then again, half of those people got in free...
Trust me, PKI had way more than 50,000 today. They were parking people across the street and busing them in. So much for the 'losing business' theory.

The final numbers I heard on Sunday were close to 62,000 in attendance. Also, if you did attend, I AM HOLDING YOU PERSONALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR SOB`S LINE! The entire thing was trashed, as in it took us almost 2 hrs to clean, and I had to leave early. Oh well, part of the job.

Sorry typo.....it was 50,000. LL wasn't crowded though yesterday. Hit Screechin Eagle 30 times. :)

It's his turn to feast, when you ride the Son of Beast.

We went yestereday and drove by the first time. Went and did a few other things and came back around 6. It was rediculous and the lines were not as bad as I would've thought by looking at the parking lot. Tomb Raider was inside the gate, Beast was inside the gate (sure all the ques were open, but I would've expected lines to be out of most gates). Drop Zone was really long, but actually I think I've seen it as long before. Face/Off was inside the gate. There was a big fight in The Beast line and security didn't want to go through the line to get them, so they just waited until they got off of the ride, or pretty close to riding anyway, I'm not sure.

I was just really suprised by the lines, just not as bad as I had expected.
