Before last year I hadn't been to Kings Island for quite some time. I was kind of disappointed when I noticed that the sport cars were shut down.
They could have been shut down for a very long time now and I have been just too dense to notice, but I am still curious if anyone has the answers to the following questions:
Does anyone know how long they have been closed?
If they have been shut down for a long time, why is the shelter and track still in semi-good condition?
Will they ever re-open? (my kids would love that!)
Or will PKI use the property for another attraction.

1) I dont think it was closed for long. I went up there last year and it was open, but now its closed. It could be from not having enough ride ops (the ride takes about 4-6 ops to handle the cars). PKI is having their last job fair soon, so hopefully it will open soon.
2) Like I said, it could be from a lack of workers.
3)Probabily will reopen
4)I doubt PKI would put another attraction there b/c it is just right for that ride. Hopefully they dont, but I wouldnt mind seeing a flying coaster go over the midway, and into that property.

The sports cars used to be in Hanna-Barbera Land. When they added the nickelodeon section (the first time, not this year) they removed to sports cars. Both sides of the section behind the eiffel tower were "old fashioned" cars the one side was Les Taxis and the other was the Ohio Auto Livery. The cars on the Les Taxis side had little taxi signs on the the top of the cars and he Ohio Auto Livery side (the side that they no longer use) weren't taxis. There are two tracks in that section and only one is being used--too bad.

PKI Freak, as I recall, the Rivertown side of the old time cars have been closed for some time. They were never opened last year or the year before. I really don't know what the main reason is. Only PKI knows why they closed the other side down. :)

Yep, the one side has been closed for a couple of years now. The rumor has been that would be part of a site for the 2 in 2002. Not sure what will happen however since no sign of work around that area yet.

I don't see how they could use that area for a major attraction because removing one track would not free up much space. the two sides weave together.
