PKI Improvment

I think PKI has improved a lot. They improved the racer, SOB, some would say the Beast ( if the midcourse brakes werent as hard i would say it improved) FOF with new lights, Overall i think a major improvment has happened with PKI coasters, What do you all think?

bigger is better

I agree, they have improved, but what I think they need is a really memorable steel coaster. I love FOF and Vortex, but there's nothing to write home about besides the wood, which they do have an excellent collection of.

I haven't been to PKI yet but it looks like it has improved a lot. Tomb Raider looks like a nice addition I just hope they have this ride running consistantly when I get there in late June... does anyone know why this ride is having so many problems and why everyone seems to dislike it? I am not listening to anyone because I want to make my opinion on it and enjoy it...

Tomb raider has been running pretty constantly, Ive been about 10 times this year aand its been closed only 2 times ive been there, this past saturday and opening day. I love tomb raider.

Ozzy, i agree, none are anything you can really brag about, no record breakers or hypers(steel)

I think PKI needs that really memorable steel coaster as well even though each coaster is probably one of the best in its category: mine train, suspended, invertigo, multi looper, kiddie coasters, launched...

I'm extremely impressed with the park this year, particularly in how much better their wood collection is running.

Everyone is probally goin to get on me for this and say is that all you ever want but I would like to see them get a B&M. This would round out there steel side and really be a good park. Also an Intamin hyper would be nice

I don't really think a hyper would make any sense considering SOB. It would be kind of stupid but I would agree about the B&M.

I hope there only improvent for upcoming years is that the take that crap of a woodie down call Son of Beast.

That has to be the worst investment that PKI has ever done.

Well, I would really like to see is a B&M invert or flyer even though I think a non-looping steel coaster is something that would be a great fit into the Kings Island coaster collection. I don't think SOB would hurt any chances of a steel hyper. SFMM and CP have three coasters over 200', right? PKI has... none(steel)! I don't think a hyper looping woodie would stop the second most visited seasonal chain amusement park(AFAIK, after SFGAdv) from getting a hyper steel coaster if they wanted one. I don't think its stupid at all. Unless SFMM and CP are stupid.

I like SOB,fix the trains and you got your self a top 5 ride IMO

I would love to see an Intamin giga or a B&M

Sonny Rocks, ride in the second seat and you will see what I mean. It is slowly gaining into my top coaster spot. Also ride it this year, the quality is vastly superior to last year. I rode it 9 times in about an hour a couple weeks ago.

I love it, i average 3 rides in less than an hour when i go. I ride about 3 times a trip, well over 30 times this year

Also If you put CP and PKI together you would have the most perfect park in the world. Why is it that no park in the US has both great wood and great steel other then possibly SF Great America with the Viper, Raging Bull Combo or some would say Kennywood (others disagree)

SOB was running fantastically a few weeks ago when I was there...even outperforming its newly "improved" daddy in my opinion. It's really been smoothed out, and a few of the drops are actually producing airtime!

I get the feeling there's a conspiracy over at King's Island to remove anything that has "K" or "C" in its initials.

I agree with everyone saying that they need better steel. Their steel selection isn't bad, but it just doesn't have that one great coaster that most park's steel coaster collections have. As far as wood goes, they have Racer, Beast, Son of Beast, and my favorite junior coaster, Beastie. At least 3 of those 4 give memorable rides for most people while really none of their steel coasters gave me that. Good rides, no doubt, Top Gun, Vortex, King Cobra (which is gone now anyway) all gave good rides, I can't deny that, but none of them gave that great unforgetable ride. That's the one main area where I think PKI needs to focus right now.

Apollo13, have you rode SOB this year. I used to think it was so so but they have made it smoother and altoghter a better ride
This year Kings Island has made many improvments. Besides the new brakes on The Beast, TR:TR(which is an extremly thrilling and enjoyable ride), and the slingshot the park has made other improvments for their 30th anniversary. One noticable one is the Vortex paint job, but the Dodgem building, and Skyline chili building (as well as other buildings in the park) in Coney Mall recieved a fresh coast of paint. And from what I`ve heard, Phantom Theater will get a make over next year and a couple water slides will debut as well as a new ride to replace KC. Also, I`ve heard that a B&M might open in 2004, but that is almost two years away.

I read a lot of posts saying PKI needs this, that, etc. According to whom? Not the people going through the turnstiles.

Let me ask you this. If you owned the only burger joint in town, and you were extremely profitable with your current lineup of food items, would you be inclined to spend your money to develop the same food as another burger joint 4 hours away, even thought you would see no appreciable difference in your return on investment? No, of course you wouldn't. And neither will PKI.

I think that TR:TR was a good indicator of what PKI intends to do with their money from now on. They intend to make new and different attractions from their neighbors.

I'm sure they're not saying "need" in the sense you're thinking Mark. It looks like that's just their opinion on what coaster would be nice there compared to the other types they already have in the collection and what would fill any void. I don't think they mean "PKI needs a B&M or they will rot and no one will go to the park because its boring and their steel coasters are stupid". I think they're just making an innocent observation. Why does everyone take everything so precisely and take word-for-what that's what they really meant or were thinking. Sometime, it just comes out all wrong when you type it compared to how you think of it.
