Paramount’s Kings Island, long ranked as offering the “Best Kid’s Area in the World,” Amusement Today Golden Ticket award winner 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005, is excited to premiere the most elaborate collection of Nickelodeon-inspired rides and attractions in the world opening in the Spring of 2006. Nick Universe includes a total of 18 rides and attractions bringing to life Nickelodeon’s most popular character celebrities and adventures including Avatar™, The Backyardigans™, Blue’s Clues™, Danny Phantom™, Dora the Explorer™, The Fairly OddParents™, Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius™, LazyTown™, Little Bill™, The Rugrats™, SpongeBob SquarePants™, and The Wild Thornberrys™.

The largest Nickelodeon area in the world boasts six all-new attractions including:

  • Thrill-seeking families take a whirlwind ride with Avatar on this first-of-its kind family roller coaster
  • Kids can enjoy a free-fall ride in the hopes to escape the menacing wrath of Plankton, SpongeBob SquarePants’ nemesis
  • Families fly with Danny Phantom as they spin through the air like a superhero
  • All aboard Azul™ the train! – Passengers join Dora the Explorer and Boots™ on a storybook train ride adventure
  • Kids join Blue for a jumping journey around her house
  • Guests enter the adventures of Bikini Bottom through a pineapple under the sea to experience SpongeBob SquarePants’ underwater world.

Nick Universe also features two new neighborhoods containing a variety of Dora the Explorer and SpongeBob SquarePants - inspired rides and attractions. In addition, this area has new dining, shopping and celebrity encounters with kids’ favorite Nickelodeon stars.

“Thanks to our incredible partnership with Nickelodeon, we are creating the next level of family entertainment. We are excited to offer a collection of new attractions that parents and kids can enjoy together, in conjunction with new family-friendly amenities such as spacious shaded walkways and additional shaded seating,” said Craig Ross executive vice president and general manager for Paramount’s Kings Island. “The Nickelodeon Universe area and attraction detail, along with other new 2006 attraction information, will be announced after the conclusion of our long anticipated WinterFest holiday event.”

So, they're getting a complete revamp of the area and a new 'first of its kind' family coaster and a kiddie free fall tower.

Who's gonna complain first?

Oh man. I might have to bring the kids to BeastBuzz next year.
This kind of family fun is what brings in the BUCKS! Familys spend money food shopping ect. Yes a new world class record breaking coaster would have better for me....but this addition will have me taking a family of 5 and instead of a one day mega drive and ride from Chicago costing me a couple of hunded buck it will turn into a $800 family weekend...PKI will get my money next year.....
The sad thing is I watch each and every one of those shows on a daily basis and know all of the above mentioned charecters. At least I can say I watch them with my 2 1/2 year old. Good addition, I'll be there with the family.

Saaaaay Backpack! -ugh...

Why oh why did Da Midget have to grow? She's too tall to smuggle me onto things!

The Crash Course Boating School might be a coaster too.

Or maybe it's a Thornberries retheme?

Man, PKI is the best. Nickelodeon Universe is the perfect addition for 2006. Not only will it target families with toddlers to preteens, but us adults will be allowed to enjoy most of the new attractions as well. It Just Doesn't Get Any Better Than This - PKI will always be the #1 family freindly theme park!
Will this be an all new area, or are they just renovating one close to the existing Nickelodeon stuff?

Azul Adventure sounds like a makeover for the Kings Island and Miami Valley RR (Which I personally wouldn't like to see...)

The Spongebob attraction sounds great, like the Little Mermaid area at Disney Sea.

A few questions:
I wonder how many Hanna-Barbara Land rides will remain?
Are the days of the Ghoster Coaster and Taxi Jam numbered?

Looks like I need to bring the camera with me when I visit next weekend

Taxi Jam is gonna be themed to Little Bill

Ghoster Coaster is getting taken out for a one of a kind coaster themed to The Nicktoon Avatar.

And Beastie will be known as Fairly ODDcoaster.

Last and not least Spongebob will be taking over the Green Slime Water Maze.

Wonder what will happen to Ghoster Coaster, if that is true?

Thankfully, I got my credit one time. I don't need it again...

I think this is awesome! Of course, I have two little ones, but still, this will be great for us! Most of the rides needed to be revamped or replaced anyway. There are a handful of those rides that were aging when I was a kid...and I'm 35 now.

But even as an adult I'm excited! PKI is dumping a ton into the park next year with this, as well as, Great Wolf Lodge. Looking forward to it!

Hmmmm. Wonder who'll have the Best Kids Area in 2006?

Hmmmmm, Paramounts Canadian Wonderland has a kids area Three times as good as PKI's but what does AT care.
I guess we now know the third coaster to be built around the Louisville area (as Shaggy hinted at about a month ago). Wish I'd gotten the Ghoster Coaster credit at BeastBuzz '04, but it was closed then.
don't know how PKI is around the Louisville area?

Good 150 miles there bud

Don't rule out Coney Island just yet!

And it's not *THAT* far. My failed SFKK trip, it was about 2:45 from passing PKI to having Chang in sight.

Not sure their is that much room for a big coaster in the Ghoster Coaster area. I have rode this coaster two times and I think this coasters hurts more than SOB.
It's painful, but not worse than SOB. I'm glad to see it go though, it's a total waste of space.
They both hurt a lot, just in different places.
