I had no idea I was going to PKI this past Friday. I was going to go over to my friends house, but my brother said he was going to go to PKI with a couple of his friends. I said,"Take me with you!" and he said,"Don't go to your friends house." It was really ironic because I just rented "The Beast" by R. L. Stine the day before.
From the looks at the front gate, this wasn't going to be a very crowded day, AT ALL. And it wasn't. I didn't know if this was normal for PKI, but I'm used to the big crowds that CP brings in every day.
We go to the park gates 8 minutes before the gates opened. After the gates opened, everyone headed over to SOB. What a suprise, it was going to open on time! I was pretty angry since I was like the 10th person there. After everyone went there to find out it was closed, they ALL headed back to The Beast. Well we spent a boring hour waiting for the yellow line to drop. I found out about 10 people there were from Fort Wayne, What a coincidence. The guy standing there went over the rules about WALKING to The Beast. Heading over there I was like the 3rd in line, but I had to wait for my brother so I had to wait for him to catch up.
Let's just say before I went to PKI I'd never ridden a GOOD woodie before. Since I'd only been to CP, I thought that Mean Streak was a good woodie, but it lacks the intensiy of this beast (get it :))This was the best woodie I'd ever been on! It was too rough, but let's remember that it wasn't near a rough as it got throughout the day.
After that AWSEOME ride, we headed over to Vortex. In the, I got behind this 45-50 year old woman who was smoking. I coughed and made a comment about her smoking, and she cussed at me and told she wasn't going to hear that from a teenager. I about slapped her and told her off, since smoking isn't allowed in the line, and if I was older, and said the same thing she wouldn't have said anything back. In the queue, I stood behind some 15-16 year olds that thought it would be cool to light up and smoke in the safety of that white tunnel. They were just blowing it into the air for everyone to smell. I just about ripped it out of his mouth and stomped it out on the ground. I'm 15 and I hate it when older people smoke in line, let alone under-aged teens. I guess I'm just used to the non-smoking lines at CP, where if you are seen smoking, something is actually done.
After that, we went over to check on the SOB situation. No word yet, what a suprise.
Instead, we went over to Top Gun. While walking over to Top Gun, I saw some mechanics messing with the brakes, so at I knew what the problem was. While we were standing in Top Gun's station, we saw that there were trains being tested on SOB's lift. That was a relief. Top Gun is a good coaster, very fast and intense, but it's too short. I'm used to the slower scenic ride of Iron Dragon.
We headed over to SOB's line, and waited in line for about 50 minutes before they started running it with people in it. We were standing in line with this awesome group of 15-16 year olds. They were sooooo funny. we sang the "Mocking Bird" song from "Dumb and Dumber" and other various songs. My brother wanted to wait for the front which took 50 minutes. So in the actual queue part of the ride, we only spent about 15 minutes. This ride is incredible! Very intense, and fast. I loved the first helix. It was kind of rough, but I welcomed it since I was riding the tallest and fastest woodie in the world.
After that rough SOB, hahahaha. I went over and got a slushy, and then went on King Cobra. In line, my brother met some fellow Purdue alumnists. While boarding, I pushed down on the hip bar, and let go fast. OUCH! The ride op told me that's what I got for wearing a Millennium Force shirt. Then he made my arm restraints tight. Then we decided to go onto Kenton Cove's Keelboat Canal. This rides a nice little serene boat ride. I'm glad it didn't get me real wet.
Next we went back over to The Beast. This was the fastest and most intense ride yet. GREAT GREAT ride.
Then we headed back over to Hanger 18, I mean OL:FoF. The monitors and sound effects were turned off, which sort of disappointed me, but I guess it was from a lack of riders, because we walked right into the station. Just as good of a ride as before.
Then we went back to The Racer. It was deserted, we walked right into the forward station and into the train. Like before a good ride, just not as good as backwards, so we went backwards.
This was probably the most fun I had at the park all day. All day I tried to get people answer to WWWWAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSUUUUUUUUUUUPPPPP!!!!! And finally someone did. After the good ride going backwards, I said WASSUUUUUPP!!! Then someone answered, and eventually the whole train was yelling WWWWWWWAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSUUUUUUUPPPP!!! We met up with the guy that answered, and went back on the ride. It was AWESOME. From being stopped in the brake run to pulling into the station we were WWWAAAAAAASSSSSSSSUUUUUUUUPPPPP!!!!-ing. Then we went back to Vortex. It was just as rough and fun as before.
Now we headed back up to the front of the park to ride Son of Beast. The wait was only about 45 minutes, but I wanted to ride when it was dark, and we had 50 minutes till the park closed so I decided to go up front. I should have gone in the back because they were moving the line so slowly, and somebody puked that the park closed before we got off. I wanted a night ride on The Beast too! :(:(:(:(:(

In the queue, I stood behind some 15-16 year olds that thought it would be cool to light up and smoke in the safety of that white tunnel. They were just blowing it into the air for everyone to smell. I just about ripped it out of his mouth and stomped it out on the ground. I'm 15 and I hate it when older people smoke in line, let alone under-aged teens. I guess I'm just used to the non-smoking lines at CP, where if you are seen smoking, something is actually done.
After that, we went over to check on the SOB situation. No word yet, what a suprise.
Instead, we went over to Top Gun. While walking over to Top Gun, I saw some mechanics messing with the brakes, so at I knew what the problem was. While we were standing in Top Gun's station, we saw that there were trains being tested on SOB's lift. That was a relief. Top Gun is a good coaster, very fast and intense, but it's too short. I'm used to the slower scenic ride of Iron Dragon.
We headed over to SOB's line, and waited in line for about 50 minutes before they started running it with people in it. We were standing in line with this awesome group of 15-16 year olds. They were sooooo funny. we sang the "Mocking Bird" song from "Dumb and Dumber" and other various songs. My brother wanted to wait for the front which took 50 minutes. So in the actual queue part of the ride, we only spent about 15 minutes. This ride is incredible! Very intense, and fast. I loved the first helix. It was kind of rough, but I welcomed it since I was riding the tallest and fastest woodie in the world.
After that rough SOB, hahahaha. I went over and got a slushy, and then went on King Cobra. In line, my brother met some fellow Purdue alumnists. While boarding, I pushed down on the hip bar, and let go fast. OUCH! The ride op told me that's what I got for wearing a Millennium Force shirt. Then he made my arm restraints tight. Then we decided to go onto Kenton Cove's Keelboat Canal. This rides a nice little serene boat ride. I'm glad it didn't get me real wet.
Next we went back over to The Beast. This was the fastest and most intense ride yet. GREAT GREAT ride.
Then we headed back over to Hanger 18, I mean OL:FoF. The monitors and sound effects were turned off, which sort of disappointed me, but I guess it was from a lack of riders, because we walked right into the station. Just as good of a ride as before.
Then we went back to The Racer. It was deserted, we walked right into the forward station and into the train. Like before a good ride, just not as good as backwards, so we went backwards.
This was probably the most fun I had at the park all day. All day I tried to get people answer to WWWWAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSUUUUUUUUUUUPPPPP!!!!! And finally someone did. After the good ride going backwards, I said WASSUUUUUPP!!! Then someone answered, and eventually the whole train was yelling WWWWWWWAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSUUUUUUUPPPP!!! We met up with the guy that answered, and went back on the ride. It was AWESOME. From being stopped in the brake run to pulling into the station we were WWWAAAAAAASSSSSSSSUUUUUUUUPPPPP!!!!-ing. Then we went back to Vortex. It was just as rough and fun as before.
Now we headed back up to the front of the park to ride Son of Beast. The wait was only about 45 minutes, but I wanted to ride when it was dark, and we had 50 minutes till the park closed so I decided to go up front. I should have gone in the back because they were moving the line so slowly, and somebody puked that the park closed before we got off. I wanted a night ride on The Beast too! :(:(:(:(:(
Wow, a CP local who actually ENJOYED their day at PKI and have little bad to say about the park. It goes to show that one park can be different experience on any given day, due to crouds, ride closures, (not the park's fault) and other factors.
I wish I lived closer to Ohio.

Gee, this makes me feel a little better about what I'm in for soon. It's nice to read a report about PKI without all the ragging. I've never been to either PKI or SFO and I'm trying not to walk in there with a jaded attitude. We'll see!
I'm going next Tues. August 15th. Only because I have free tickets and certainly not because I think it's even a "fair" park. SOB, what a disaster IMO. It seems like it would be a miracle if it's even going to be running by the posts on Coasterbuzz. Maybe they can get it running consistantly by next year.
they had no problems with SOB when i went. 2 trains, opened all day eccept for some club event which closed the ride at 7. we got on in about 20-25 minutes. if i would have waited as long as you all did, i would have shot myself.
