PKI 5/30... ...long.

It's a Yearly visit to PKI on a school trip. My first park visit of the season. I've been worried since they set the date of the trip that we'd miss out on SoB, afraid it wouldn't be open in time... ...good news is SoB was open, bad news is we missed out on it. more on that later.
the park opened at 11:00, which is when we got there... ...it was actually noon before we got in, due to long lines.
Now, at CP, you can generally expect the first wave of guests to go from front to back, makeing Mean Streak a walk-on in the early hours, and Raptor a 3 hour wait. It usually takes an hour or so for the guests to spread throughout the park.
Apparently this isn't the way PKI works. the four of us decided not to head directly to the Face/Off-SoB-King Cobra-Top Gun-Drop Zone area, because we assumed that's what everyone else would do. we instead cut through Hanna-Barbara land to beast, only to find rediculous 2 hour waits. (I guess SoB is sparking new interest in it's daddy, I don't recall lines on beast ever going over an hour.) so we head for vortex. lines not bad, we ride. the Vortex crew was hard at work, (seemingly the only ride crew in the park doing so) as Vortex was running three trains and cycling them all with full eficiency and no stacking. we ended up riding it 2 more times at the end of the day. I hadn't recalled Vortex being that great, but those three rides seriously improved my opinion of it. Hint on Riding: don't bring the OTSRs all the way down for some funky bowel movement on the corkscrews.
Outer Limits came next. exceptable 30 minute wait. We finally figured out that the part of the queue with the UFO is just half of a UFO next to a mirror. hey don't laugh.. ..it only took us 3 rides. the ride itself was pretty good. we rode twice, the first one tricking me into believing that OL was somehow less head-battering than last year, and the second reminding me of last season's constant OL-enduced headaches.
