PKI 10/7, walk on lines to every ride!

Associated parks:
None

I was at PKI on the 7th of October, and it was a little cold, but not freezing. I arrived at 11:30 and the parking lot was empty. There were virtually no lines all day!  About the longest line was for Face Off or Flight of Fear at fifteen minutes around 1 in the afternoon.  The Beast had a walk on line, and more than half of the rows were empty!  King Cobra was closed untill around four and it to had a walk on line.  Everything was a walk-on later in the evening, The Beast, Beastie, Drop Zone, Son of Beast Flying Eagles, Wild Thornberrys River Adventure (which I got to ride two times in a row without going all the way around, but was a cold ride at 7:00 when its 50 out.)  Last ride of the night at 8 was on Flight of Fear.  The flying scucer and show were all off and my cousin and I were the only ones in the room.  It was oddly quiet.  When we arrived in the station they cheered when my cousin and I arrived because they needed to have ten people to launch the train.  After maintance fixed a gate that was malfunctioning, 12 of us, including a  ride op, rode Flight of Fear after a fifteen minute delay to fix the gate.  Overall, an excellent day at Paramount`s Kings Island.  One minor thing is that there will only be one train operation on the Backwards Racer the rest of the season!  Tomb Raider`s building has been topped off, and it looks like KCKC`s old shed has recieved a new roof.

I always "hate" to hear about people getting walk-ons at one of my favorite parks, especially ones that I am only able to go to in the middle of Summer. Call it jealosy, because I LOVE The Beast!! Well, at least my homeparks are the same way this time of year.

Well, Soggy, I hate to inform you, but this past Saturday at SFMM there were very few "walk-ons" on the major coasters.  Deja Vu, Goliath and Riddler's Revenge had the longest lines with DV at least 90 minutes in the early evening.  Even BTR had a 45 minute wait in the early afternoon.

Can anyone explain why they need 10 people to launch a train???? Because something similar like that happened to me, I went to FOF straight away in the morning, and was the first person in the line, I walked in the station, and they said to me they needed to wait for 10 people to launch the first train, Luckly as it was in the morning, I only waited about 1 minute maybe and we were on our way, but I stil dont understand this????? because surely when testing the trains in the morning, they are actually empty meaning they still make it all the way round?? Is it something to do with the weight in the trains, or when they test the ride in the morning, do they actually get 10 members of staff to do it????
I don`t know, but that is a good point about testing in the morning!

It must be park policy.

Being a PKI regular I might be able to help you guys on this one.  Normally FoF delivers a pretty good ride with a full train.  However on the 5th of October I rode with about half a train during Fear Fest.  I must say that thing was smoking.  This is probably due to the fact that forces would be way to high if say you were the only one on the train.  The launch is the same force no matter how many people are on the train.
In other words, the launch is calcualted for a certain weight.  The less weight there is the faster the train will be propelled through the ride.
